Wrong answer. Correct answer should be D (dynamic disk) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/performance-tuning/role/hyper-v-server/storage-io-performance#vhd-format

The question could be worded better, but by definition, a "Differencing VHD" can grow dynamically without modifying the initial "parent" VHD. I agree with boi132, the answer should be "A". https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/performance-tuning/role/hyper-v-server/storage-io-performance#vhd-format

Technically no answer is "correct" Dynamically will increase the original VHD size, as by definition it increases as needed and differencing relies on a 2nd child VHD to pair up with the parent VHD which isn't mentioned at all in the question just a single VHD. LINKED and FIXED just cannot be right in any case.

The question says " but without making changes to the initial VHD" so A) should be the right answer
