Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C 🗳️
There is a limit of 100 VMs that can be associated to the same backup policy from portal. We recommend that for more than 100 VMs, create multiple backup policies with same schedule or different schedule.
One policy for VMS, one for SQL databases, and one for the file shares.

its clearly say - Azure SQL databases, means Azure SQL databases and NOT vm with sql. So this one has native backups for 30 days. We need only two 1. Azure file shares https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/azure-file-share-backup-overview?toc=/azure/storage/files/toc.json#how-the-backup-process-works 2. and obviously for VMs so answer is 2

Selected Answer: B
The supported resources for Azure backup are: Azure Virtual Machines (VMs): Back up entire VMs, including Windows and Linux VMs. Azure Managed Disks: Back up managed disks attached to Azure VMs. Azure File Shares: Protect file shares stored in Azure Storage accounts. SQL Server in Azure VMs: Back up SQL Server databases running on Azure VMs. SAP HANA Databases in Azure VMs: Back up SAP HANA databases running on Azure VMs. Azure Database for PostgreSQL: Back up PostgreSQL databases. Azure Blobs: Operational backup for Azure Blobs. Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): Backup for AKS clusters12. So only two policies are needed. One for VMs, beacuse of the 100 limitation per policy, and one for the file share. Aure SQL databases are not supported by Azure backup.

The answer should be 2, one for VMS and another for file shares. SQL database has a different backup mechanism, a backup policy does not require.

SQL Server in VM and NOT Azure SQL DB can be backed up using Service Vault. Hence it should be 2 (B) and not 3 as the answer.

Azure SQL DB should have full backup, which allows point-in-time to the latest point of 30 days. So we will need only 2 backup policies.

why not 2 policy then..One policy for VM's (as there is a limit) & one for SQL and File share...U may have to configure the backups 3 times , but policy used can be 2..

I tried it, it seems we cant use the same policy for different workload , meaning that the Backup policy for SQL database cant be used for File share. It just doesnot populate.
