should the answer be B? Inbound: In an inbound scenario, a remote result source will only be configured in the SharePoint Online search center. Inbound can be defined as the ability to query only from SharePoint Online farm to on-premise farm. Outbound: In an outbound scenario, a remote result source will only be configured in the on-premises SharePoint Server farm. Outbound can be defined as the ability to only query from the on-premises farm to SharePoint Online search farm.

SharePoint Online users want to see onprem search results. Therefore the remote result source must be configured in SharePoint Online. Answer a is correct.
