For point 2, they are all nonsense, but option 1 automatic reservation is not even an option as reservation logic is manual, estimation, scheduling, start or release... no automatic option and option 2 may or may not exist as this is user defined and is related to Fee, Item, Expense or Hour.. Either way standard cost items would be associated to an item type category, which projitem (at least in the demo data) is set to. Therefore by process of elimination only answer 2 is a realistic option and could be argued as giving any sort of benefit.

Posting method = Finished Items. Then 1 = When production is ended. Finished item/no link to order – Actual costs can’t be posted until the production cycle for an item has a status of Ended. The cost for the finished item is posted as a single transaction. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/project-operations/prod-pma/overview-project-management-accounting

Agree for 1. Finished Item. 2. Posting to consumed. None of the other options make sense. Auto reservation only deals with material reservation and should not affect cost. Production category affects posting profile. Closes answer is 2 but still doesn't guarantee standard cost because you could be using planned cost model.

Actually subcontract might be better. ProjectItem has no fixed cost, but subcontract could. Posting to consumed only changes the first answer to post at each operation but wouldn't affect any costing necessarily. See the section about calculating the cost to complete the project which uses actual. If we want standard we need to make it a subcontract. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/project-operations/prod-pma/overview-project-management-accounting
