Now you don't need to use crossover cable because all NIC can manage even straight cable connection without any problem

Crossover cables are used to connect like devices; Straight through cables are used to connect unlike devices; Rollover cables are used for management (console cables) - ALTHOUGH due to Auto MDIX, most devices can now auto detect what type of cable has been plugged in so it really doesn't matter if you use a crossover or straight through
