Trick question - it asks to stop "all" updates - metered only stops feature updates but security patches still download. Going with D even though requires advanced option - thx Microsoft....

I totally agree, the question (or I should say answer) says Settings app, pause updates... it makes no condition that you can't configure the pause settings, it just means would pausing updates do the job? The answer, of course, is yes. D.

Since they are spending 3 weeks, we can just pause the updates. Windows updates can be paused for 35 days.

Selected Answer: C
Pause will pause the installation of the updates, defer will pause the download. Keep in mind that only Quality and Features updates, are eligible. Not the security updates, the security updates will always download and install

Microsoft splits Windows updates into three broad categories: Security updates fix major vulnerabilities. You cannot defer security updates at all. Feature updates include new features and significant updates to existing features. You can defer feature updates for up to 365 days. Quality updates are more like traditional operating system updates and include minor security fixes, critical, and driver updates. You can defer quality updates for up to 30 days.

Answer is D. It is clearly stated that: You need to prevent all Windows updates from downloading for the duration of the trip. With pausing updates you can setup a timestamp to wish to pause updates to.

Correct answer is D, pausing the updates will pause them from being downloaded and installed. C is wrong because when you set the network to metered, it will restrict the usage.

The Answer C is Correct. D is wrong because pausing updates will not stop the updates from being downloaded.

Temporarily pause updates from being installed can only pause for 35 days the most, but we don't know how long the trip will be. When you reach the pause limit your device will need to get new updates before you pause again. In Advanced Options, there is a switch to on/off "Download updates over metered connections"

Correct answer appears to be C. With metered conections windows issues a message when you try and download updates (you only have to turn it on) : e.g. “Updates are available. We’ll download them when you are not using a metered connection, or you can download 417.17 Mb using your current data connection (charges may apply).” You can then stop downloads for 35 days or more. D only pauses updates for 7 days. No mention of having to use Advanced Options

I stand corrected. Going wih D. metered only stops feature updates but security patches still download. Win 10 Version1809 can pause updates for 35 days by using advanced options

I agree. Settings > Update & Security > Advanced options > Pause updates > Select date (till 3rd of May for me, today is 29 of March).

But anyway better use a all possibilities. Additionally apply metered connection and disable Windows Updates services.

This prevent to install them, not to download them. SO answer should be "C" Windows allows you to pause updates for a maximum of 35 days. Go into the Advanced Options. You can choose to defer updates by up to 35 days. Once these periods are up, you’ll need to download updates before you can defer them again. To be able to delay the installation you need download the updates, so "D" is not the answer

Had an opportunity to test this today. Two updates were queued on home PC (Windows 10 Pro). One was already installing, the second one hadn't downloaded yet. I clicked the pause for 7 days button. On the advanced options screen the date was set to 7 days later, proving that the 7 day pause and the pause longer options use the same system. About 15 minutes later I resumed the updates. The first update had finished installing regardless of the pause, but the second update hadn't started downloading yet. I have a 100mbit connection and it was a small update, so 15 minutes should have been more than enough. So I'm gonna go with D on this, since turning on metered connection won't block all updates.

Actually, I'm unsure because it doesn't say anything about Advanced Options, which would be required for pausing for longer than 7 days.
