Exam 70-741 topic 1 question 14 discussion

Actual exam question from Microsoft's 70-741
Question #: 14
Topic #: 1
[All 70-741 Questions]

Your company has a main office in London and a branch office in Seattle. The offices connect to each other by using a WAN link.
In the London office, you have a Distributed File System (DFS) server named FS1 that contains a folder named Folder1.
In the Seattle office, you have a DFS server named FS2.
All servers run Windows Server 2016.
You configure replication of Folder1 to FS2.
Users in both offices frequently add files in Folder1.
You monitor DFS Replication, and you discover excessive replication over the WAN link during business hours.
You need to reduce the amount of bandwidth used for replication during business hours. The solution must ensure that the users can continue to save content to
Folder1.
What should you do?

  • A. Modify the quota settings on Folder1 on FS2.
  • B. Modify the properties of the replication group.
  • C. Configure the copy of Folder1 on FS2 as read-only.
  • D. Modify the replicated folder properties of Folder1 on FS1.

This can be done with the following cmdlet: Set-DfsrGroupSchedule -GroupName "RG01" -Day Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday -BandwidthDetail ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff00000000000000000000000000000000ffffffffffffffffffffffffffff https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/dfsr/set-dfsrgroupschedule?view=win10-ps

B is correct. From the properties, one can edit the schedule and set the replicaiton date/time NOT during business hours.

Through this you can also set the bandwidth that DFS is allowed to use in order to perofm the replication.

I think that this solution is replication from Folder1 to FS2. By changing schedule for replication, you can reduce the amount of bandwidth and can continue to save content to Folder1. Therefore B is correct. Since this environment has two office, strictly speaking the properties of the replication group doesn't exist. To set schedule of a replication group you click "Edit Replication Group Schedule", not properties. When you use Set-DfsrGroupSchedule, the document doesn't use "properties" as words. To set schedule of a connection in replication group you click properties for the connection, not replication group.
