Network Controller is a prerequisite for the Software Load Balancer service so because of that I suppose the answer must be changed to D. https://davidfleming.org/2017/04/27/deploy-and-configure-sdn-software-load-balancer-service/

SLB provides a multitenant unified edge by seamlessly integrating with Microsoft appliances such as the RAS Multitenant Gateway, Datacenter Firewall, and Route Reflector.

The following contains an example of SLB and RAS used together: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/sdn/technologies/network-function-virtualization/ras-gateway-high-availability

I think the given answer (B) is correct. The question dosn't say that router needs to update its configuration dynamically.

RAS Gateway is multitenant aware, and is essentially a virtual router and gateway. Configured as a VPN gateway that is aware of the virtual networks deployed on the Hyper-V hosts.

Network Controller is correct. The temptation is to go for RAS Gateway because it mentions 'multitenant'. But the question focuses on load balancing. You need Network Controller to set the policies for load balancing (SLB).

I'm going with D. SLB and network controller. Since we want to distribute the load evenly, we need to use SLB. SLB manager sets inside the Network Controller. Also, the network controller process the commands coming from SCVMM or Powershell, and calculate the load balancing policy and distribute the load to the Hyper-V host and SLB MUXes. B. Remote Access Server (RAS) gateways are used for bridging traffc between virtual and non-virtual networks. Organizations can use Software Load Balancing (SLB) to evenly dis- tribute network traffc between the virtual network resources.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/sdn/technologies/network-controller/network-controller#bkmk_gateway According to this, Network Controller doesn't provide native support for multi-tenant environments. RAS Gateway does. So even though Network Controller is a pre-req for RAS Gateway, you still need to install RAS Gateway in order to distribute traffic evenly. I believe B is the correct answer.

Nowhere in that link does it say anything remotely close to "Network Controller doesn't provide native support for multi-tenant environments"

So B or D? I found explanation like this for B. By using a RAS Gateway and Windows Server Software Load Balancing (SLB), you can scale out your load balancing capabilities using SLB VMs on the same Hyper-V compute servers that you use for your other virtual machine workloads. Multitenancy for VLANs is not supported by Network Controller; however, you can use VLANs with SLB for service provider managed workloads, such as the datacenter infrastructure and high-density web servers.

Explanation/Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/orphan-topics/ws.11/mt632286(v=ws.11) Software Load Balancing Infrastructure To deploy Windows Server SLB, you must first deploy Network Controller in Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview and one or more SLB MUX VMs. In addition, you must configure Hyper-V hosts with the SDN-enabled Hyper-V Virtual Switch and ensure that the SLB Host Agent is running. The routers that serve the hosts must support equal cost multipath (ECMP) routing and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and must be configured to accept BGP peering requests from the SLB MUXes. . . .

well, doN't we need a RAS Gateway if we have multi Tenant setup? So ist musst be b or c ... NLB does not help in this scenario ... wich leads me to B

Paz, you link does not support your theory - if we were talking BGP then maybe but I know from other sites and materials that dritter and DD are correct in the in order to get SLB then you must have Network controller as well. D is the answer
