Exam AZ-304 topic 4 question 1 discussion

Actual exam question from Microsoft's AZ-304
Question #: 1
Topic #: 4
[All AZ-304 Questions]

DRAG DROP -
Your company identifies the following business continuity and disaster recovery objectives for virtual machines that host sales, finance, and reporting applications in the company's on-premises data center:
✑ The sales application must be able to fail over to a second on-premises data center.
✑ The finance application requires that data be retained for seven years. In the event of a disaster, the application must be able to run from Azure. The recovery time objective (RTO) is 10 minutes.
✑ The reporting application must be able to recover point-in-time data at a daily granularity. The RTO is eight hours.
You need to recommend which Azure services meet the business continuity and disaster recovery objectives. The solution must minimize costs.
What should you recommend for each application? To answer, drag the appropriate services to the correct applications. Each service may be used once, more than once, or not at all. You may need to drag the split bar between panes or scroll to view content.
NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

I like that more than often the marked answer is incorrect. If you know your shit, you should at least suspect the answer is bs, and go and double check yourself :)

For sales - the requirement is to fail over from one on-prem datacenter to another. Looks to me like this is a scenario which was once supported by Site Recovery but no longer is. See this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/vmware-physical-secondary-support-matrix#end-of-support-announcement I assume at the time of writing this question, the objective could still be achieved using Site Recovery, as I don't think it can be achieved by either of the other two options. So if this comes up in my exam, I will choose Site Recovery.

It seems still available for VMM-managed Hyper-V on-premise to VMM-managed Hyper-V on-premise. Once did this (in 2016?) with NetApp replication integration (very buggy) and I knew the hardware snapshot integration was dropped. But it also seems like it's due to disappear as only supports Windows 2012 R2 hosts... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/hyper-v-vmm-architecture https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/hyper-v-vmm-secondary-support-matrix I would choose Site Recovery IF it mentions Hyper-V, but in real life... not.

"sales application must be able to fail over" -> Site Recovery for sales "retained for seven years" and "event of a disaster, the application must be able to run" -> Site Recovery and Backup for finance "recover point-in-time data" -> Backup for reporting https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-overview https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-vms-introduction

Sales RPO seconds. Must use ASR. Finance retention years. RTO 10 minutes. Must use ASR. Azure Backup retention 30 days. Reporting RPO 1 day and RTO 8 hours. Can use Azure Backup to minimize costs.
