You have Azure subscription that contains a virtual network named VNet1. VNet1 uses an IP address space of 10.0.0.0/16 and contains the subnets in the following table.

Subnet1 contains a virtual appliance named VM1 that operates as a router.
You create a routing table named RT1.
You need to route all inbound traffic to VNet1 through VM1.

given answer is correct 1. Address Prefix 10.0.0.0/16 - Because routing table will be applied to this VNET. 2. Next hop type "Virtual appliace" - because as mentioned in ques all inbound traffic must be routed through VM1 which will act as virtual appliance 3. Assigned to "Gateway Subnet" - because all incoming traffic to this vnet will first hit the Gateway which is in gateway subnet.

the prefix is 10.0.1.0/24 according to this link, not 10.0.0.0/16, doesn't that indicate the given answer for the first box is incorrect?

The address prefix in the link is 10.0.1.0/24 because there the situation is different than this question though the concept is same. In this question it is mentioned the incoming traffic to the entire vnet and a gatewaysubnet is present which means all incoming traffic will come via the gatewaysubnet. Therefore the route table configuration in the answer is correct.

Given answer is correct. Address prefix:10.0.0.0/16, route all traffic to vnet Next hop: NVA Assigned to: GratewaySubnet, you have to ask yourself where could all traffic be coming from based on the details. The only possible source in this case can be via a VPN.

This question is either wrong or the answer for part 3 is wrong. question is saying that NVA is created in SubNet1 not in GatewaySub. So why is'nt subnet1 listed in options? or we are assuming all incoming traffic will always be coming through just because we created a Gateway sub net?

Where the NVA is doesn't matter. Route Table must be in the subnet where the traffic originates.

Cant understand why all incoming traffic will get routed to GatewaySubnet?

Because GatewaySubnet is a mandatory part of VPN or ExpressRoute gateway, thus any traffic coming through a gateway comes from GatewaySubnet.

Address prefix: 10.0.1.0/24 Next hop Type: Virtual network Assigned to: GatwaySubnet Traffic comes from GatwaySubnet over Subnet1 (10.0.1.0/24) to VM1 and VM1 route the traffic to other Subnets. In the given solution the traffic comes from GatwaySubnet to an appliance that's not specified!

Address prefix refers to the destination, not the source.

Subnet1 is the destination!!!

From the question, VNET should be the destination. 10.0.0.0/16 is the address range for VNET, note it's /16, not /24.
