Solution is correct. Alternate configuration is shown. These (alternate-)settings only apply if no DHCP is provided. In segment 1: DHCP is enabled, so IP is assigned, 172.16.0.58 In segment 2: No DHCP is found, so alternate settings are applied, 172.16.0.10

I did some quick research which seems to back up this answer. It sais: As @uSlackr has said, it is the configuration that Windows will use when DHCP is unavailable. This seems to imply that alternative configuration only applies, when the interface is set to automatic (dhcp) but a dhcp server is not found in the network.

I think it will 172.16.0.10 for both answers, because computer has static IP address already applied.

It's not a static IP address. That's what i thought at first aswell. It's alternate address meaning it will only be used if DHCP is unavailable for some reason. See Perycles comment

This is not correct, if you assign a static IP to a host that hasnt been set to automatically detect and IP address from DHCP the static IP wont change. I think the answer is 172.16.0.10 for both.

Both 172.16.0.10 because the address is a manually static address and will stay on that computer when you connect on segment1 or segment2. Its not getting an by DHCP provided IP

Alternate Configuration has two important informations that kill at least the Segment2 statement: Automatic private IP address which means APIPA User configured which means Alternate Configuration So, User configured will be used and you will have 172.16.0.10 for that Segment2.

Segment2 should be 169.254?? 172.16.0.10 is not available in segment2

There is no dhcp so the address cant be 169. This address appears only when the dhcp cant be reached

Alternative configuration is possible Only when IP adress is configured as automatic (DHCP). If you configure an IP amnually, "alternitave Configuration " tab doesn't appear. In our Case, we have an automatic configuration , so computer whill first try to contact a DHCP server. If these is no DHCP on the segment, or if DHCP not responding, alternative configuration will take place. SO answer are correct.

question is asking which IP address should be identified when connecting to the segment. If segment also means subnet then I would say 172.16.0.58 would need to be the identity to be able to connect to 172.16.0.0 subnet. Also to be able to connect to the 192.168.1.0 subnet, the identity would need to be a 192.168.1.X address

You get an apipa adres on segment 1 because of duplicate ip. Segment 2 just gets the IP 172.16.0.10 as it is static assigned.

Why? Where you see that 172.16.0.10 is already used?

In the first segment, the first free address is .58 which suggests .10 is already in use.

it doesn't say 10 is already in use. if it is already in use, the PC can not have any IP address because it's duplicated. but in Answer, we don't have option like `can not have network` something like this. therefore it will be assigning 10

adding to my comment, if you give static IP and IP is already assigned for something else, it will be CONFLICTING and we should give it either another static IP or change to DHCP client or you should exclude the IP from DHCP. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-duplicate-ip-address-conflicts-on-a-dhcp-network-d68499da-69a3-da3b-4630-d17e502adf50

Why? Maybe second? Second segment don't have DHCP.

Second segment gives 169.254! 172.16.0.10 can't be enforced in a 192.168.1.0/24 VLAN.
