I'm not really sure what they're asking here, but... Assuming they want to install Office apps to their devices, they would need licenses for Windows 10 Pro, since Office 365 Apps no longer support Windows 7 officially. I don't think they'd need Office Professional anymore since they'd have Office 365. If they already have Windows Server with ADDS, they don't need a NEW license for compatibility with Windows 10 devices and Azure AD Connect, even if it's as old as Server 2012, it's compatible and it's a perpetual license. If they want to move to Azure though, they'd either need a new license, or they could do Hybrid Benefit and use their existing license. Not enough info for this question, imo. Presumably they would just use Exchange Online now as it's included in 365. So I say: Windows 10 Pro = Required Office Professional = Not required Server = ??? Gonna say Required because they're migrating to the cloud and their other devices being Windows 7 probably means they need a new Server license by now. Exchange Client = Not required I'll probably change my mind next time I see this question though!

Oops, as predicted I've changed my answer. Windows 10 Enterprise is included with Enterprise plans, E3 E5 and F3. So Windows 10 Pro is not required. file:///C:/Users/lowe_/AppData/Local/Temp/Modern%20Work%20Plan%20Comparison%20-%20Enterprise%20US%20ERP%20(20).pdf

Win 10 pro required because MS365 is win 10 enterprise but from 7 to 10 pro would require a license Office not required since O365 is under MS365 Server required because it is not under ms365 Exchange client not required since ms365 has exchange

I think am onto something here with "You need to determine which products require the purchase of Microsoft 365 licenses for new employees." They are mentioning for what services, which they had before, a license is required for new employees. What bothers me is the WIndows 10 pro Upgrade choice. They need a license from an E3 subscription which will include all they need I think. So I don't know what this means but I'll just go guessing. However, am not convinced this question would come up

This is my take on this and is not better than any of the one ones. Let's concentrate with the words "new employees". Why would a new employee need a Windows Update license, he gets a M365 license automatically also Office, so Office Professional goes in the bin. What I can't be sure whether new users need a license for the Exchange server but I guess they need an Exchange access license. For me it would be a No / No / Maybe /Yes

It's poorly worded but and its not written consistently, but i think its asking will a microsoft licence be required to upgrade this into an O365 environment. Windows 10 Pro - not required, its a standalone upgrade licence Office Professional to O365 - Required O365 licence Windows Server to Sharepoint - Required O365 licence Exchange to Exchange Online - Required O365 licence Its just a mess.

Q1 - NO https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business-premium/microsoft-365-business-faqs?view=o365-worldwide#what-is-windows-10-business If you have devices that are licensed for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 Professional, Microsoft 365 Business Premium provides an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, which is the prerequisite for deploying Windows 10 Business. As the company has Win7, they must be on Pro version. Q2 - NO, the M365 subscription will include Office services (as not determined exactly, what Office products are needed, as Exchange exist, we can suppose, Outlook) Q3 - NO, the on-prem servers are already licensed, Azure AD Connect will do the job and can be installed on the DC, or on the freed up Exchange server (which was already licensed) Q4 - YES, as M365 is per user licensed (migration is planned, so we can suppose the old Exchange will be replaced with Exchange Online)

After looking at this question one more time I think that only required is Windows 10 Upgrade license. Because you cannot upgrade windows 7 with Microsoft 365 license. You need to upgrade to windows 10 first to be able to use Office apps etc..

Absolutely confusing question. I think there are mistakes in the question area and in the answer area. First question is asking what Microsoft 365 licenses need to be purchased. The second one is asking what product licenses need to be purchased: "You need to determine which products require the purchase of Microsoft 365 licenses for new employees. Which product licenses should the company purchase?" I think we need to consider the product licenses. Because those products cannot require W365 licenses. In this case it will be more or less clear. 1. Windows upgrade is not required to purchase as Win10 is part of W365 2. Office professional. Required as it is not part of W365. 3. Windows server. Not required as we talk about users. If it would ask for Windows server CAL, then required for on-premise environment. So probably there is an error in the answer area. 4. Exchange CAL. Required for on-premise environment.

they are asking "You need to determine which products require the purchase of Microsoft 365 licenses for new employees". This means: Does Win 10 require a M365 license? No Does Office Professional require a M365 license? No Does Windows Server require a M365 license? No Does Exchange client Access require a M365 license? No

The question is "You need to determine which products require the purchase of Microsoft 365 licenses for new employees" So...Windows 10 does not require 365. Yes 365 needs windows 10, but that is not what they're asking. They're asking it the other way around. What requires 365, not what does 365 require. After all I can have Windows 10 without 365. Look at the question very carefully.
