You are a district manager for a large retail company. You want to provide sales managers with deeper sales insights to ensure that they can make more informed decisions for their stores.
Store managers must be able to view data in near real-time.

Let's say you have a dashboard in the Power BI service. The dashboard contains visuals from many different reports, all from different Power BI desktop files. So, it makes no sense to be able to share a dashboard from a single Power BI Desktop file because a dashboard can contain visuals from several different Power BI desktop files. Keep in mind you have to publish the desktop file to the service before it can appear in a dashboard.

CoPilot says - Power BI Desktop and Power BI service can be used in combination which allows you to get the most out of both platforms.

To share the Power BI dashboard with your retail manager, you can use either the Power BI service or Power BI Desktop. To create a Power BI dashboard containing sales information for a single store, you can use either Power BI service or Power BI Desktop.

Create Power BI dashboards that contain a single store's sales information. Reporting Type: Power BI Desktop or Power BI Service Explanation: Both Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service can be used to create dashboards. Power BI Desktop is ideal for the development and design of complex reports and dashboards, while Power BI Service (the online version) can also be used for creating and publishing dashboards, especially when working directly with cloud-based data or for simpler dashboard designs. Share that dashboard with your retail managers. Reporting Type: Power BI Service only Explanation: Sharing dashboards with others, such as retail managers, is a feature that is available exclusively in the Power BI Service. Once a dashboard is created in Power BI Desktop, it can be published to the Power BI Service, from where it can be shared with other users within your organization.

MS documentation clearly indicates that you can share dashboards also from Power BI DESKTOP. "You can share from Power BI Desktop with OneDrive and SharePoint integration." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-share-dashboards

Wrong, it's not clear at all from the URL you provided. Where that quote appears, it has a link to: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-sharepoint-save-share When you read that destination page, there is no mention of dashboards whatsoever. It's just for sharing reports or Power BI desktop files via OneDrive and SharePoint integration.

This option only refers to Power BI Desktop files. If you follow the link, it explains that you are sharing Power BI files. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-sharepoint-save-share#save-power-bi-files-to-onedrive-and-sharepoint
