User1 can you SfB for a new chat with User2. Yes > User2 coexistence mode means "Teams private chat, calling, and scheduling meetings are off by default in this mode."

Correct : Yes | No | NO Why: Yes (OK) > User3 coexistence mode is Teams only. The User can only use Teams for a new Chat with User1. No (OK) > User1 coexistence mode is Islands. User1 can you SfB for a new chat with User2. NOOOO > User 2 cannot chat with User 3 with SFB because, user 3 is in "Teams Only" mode As you said, in "Skype for Business with Teams Collaboration" mode, "Teams private chat, calling, and scheduling meetings are OFF by default in this mode". https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/microsoftteams/teams-and-skypeforbusiness-coexistence-and-interoperability

Incorrect. 3 is Yes. Teams can chat with SfB. A teams only user that sends a chat to a SfB user will receive the message in SfB. The SfB user sends a message to Teams only user will receive the message in Teams.

: User3 must use the Microsoft Teams client to initiate a new chat with User1. - Yes Reasoning: User3 is set to Teams only mode, so they must use Teams for all communications, including initiating a new chat with User1. User1 must use the Microsoft Teams client to initiate a new chat with User2. - No Reasoning: User1 is set to use Org-wide settings, which is currently set to Islands mode. In Islands mode, a user can use either Teams or Skype for Business to initiate a new chat. User2 must use the Skype for Business client to initiate a new chat with User1 and User3. - No Reasoning: User2 is set to Skype for Business with Teams collaboration mode. This means they can use Teams for team collaboration but should use Skype for Business for chat, meetings, and calling with other users who are still using Skype for Business. However, since User3 is in Teams only mode, User2 should use Teams to chat with User3.

The last one got me, but upon further reading on ms docs: "A Teams Only user (also called an upgraded user) has access to all the capabilities in Teams. They may retain the Skype for Business client to join meetings on Skype for Business that have been organized by non-upgraded users or external parties." This link will auto highlight the stated section above: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-and-skypeforbusiness-coexistence-and-interoperability#:~:text=A%20Teams%20Only%20user%20(also,upgraded%20users%20or%20external%20parties.

Yes > User3 coexistence mode is Teams only. The User can only use Teams for a new Chat with User1. Definitely NO > User1 coexistence mode is Islands AND is Homed ON Prem. The User MUST Use Skype for Business to initiate instead of Teams otherwise there is no communication (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/coexistence-chat-calls-presence) NO > see Table here as well https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/coexistence-chat-calls-presence)

YES/YES/NO • Islands - Use this setting if you want users to be able to use both Skype for Business and Teams simultaneously. • Skype for Business only - Use this setting if you want your users to only use Skype for Business. • Skype for Business with Teams collaboration - Use this setting if you want your users to use Skype for Business in addition to using Teams for group collaboration (channels). • Skype for Business with Teams collaboration and meetings - Use this setting if you want your users to use Skype for Business in addition to using Teams for group collaboration (channels) and Teams meetings. • Teams only - Use this setting if you want your users to use only Teams. Note that even with this setting, users can still join meetings hosted in Skype for Business.

Yes - User3 must use teams only, because user3 is in "Teams only" mode No - User1 must NOT use Teams, because user2 is in "Skype for business with Teams collaboration" mode "Teams private chat, calling, and scheduling meetings are off by default in this mode." No - because despite being able to chat with user1 (Islands mode) User3 is in "Teams only" mode https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-and-skypeforbusiness-coexistence-and-interoperability#skype-for-business-with-teams-collaboration
