DRAG DROP -
Your company plans to load data from a customer relationship management (CRM) system to a data warehouse by using an extract, load, and transform (ELT) process.
Where does data processing occur for each stage of the ELT process? To answer, drag the appropriate locations to the correct stages. Each location may be used once, more than once, or not at all. You may need to drag the split bar between panes or scroll to view content.
NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

Suggested Answer:
Box 1: The CRM system -
Data is extracted from the CRM system.

Box 2: The data warehouse -
Data is loaded to the data warehouse.

Agree! Go to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/data-guide/relational-data/etl In the ELT pipeline, the transformation occurs in the target data store. Instead of using a separate transformation engine, the processing capabilities of the target data store are used to transform data.

This question is related to ELT(Extract-Load-Transform) not ETL (Extract-Transform-Load). In ELT, transformation happens on Target. So, Load and Transform should happen on 'Data Warehouse'. The answer given here is for ETL not for ELT.

I agree. The link to the MS site should be this sub-part further down the page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/data-guide/relational-data/etl#extract-load-and-transform-elt

Extract: The CRM System Explanation: In the ELT process, data is extracted directly from the source system, which in this case is the CRM system. Load: The Data Warehouse Explanation: In an ELT process, data is loaded directly into the data warehouse without being transformed first. Transform: The Data Warehouse Explanation: In ELT, transformation occurs after data is loaded into the data warehouse, using the data warehouse’s processing capabilities to perform the transformations.

I am wondering if there are two correct answers here, because with ELT, you actually extract > Load > Transform > Load that transformation somewhere else. So technically both DWH and in-memory data are theoretically correct.

The Transform can happen right in the DWH, why would you load the data 2nd time to somewhere else? It is possible to add as many extra load and transform as you wish, but that will not be an efficient ELT.

On the following website: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/data-guide/relational-data/etl, the diagram in the result is an example of ETL, but the question discusses ELT. Is this correct, or am I thinking to much on this question? Please advise and thanks.

For ELT, the correct answer is CRM-DWH-DWH https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/data-guide/relational-data/etl Extract, load, and transform (ELT) differs from ETL solely in where the transformation takes place. In the ELT pipeline, the transformation occurs in the target data store. Instead of using a separate transformation engine, the processing capabilities of the target data store are used to transform data.
