User1 is a member of a security group named Contoso PowerBI and has access to a workspace named Contoso Workspace. => This indicates that members of "Contoso PowerBI" can get access to "Contoso Workspace". Therefore, you need to remove User1 from the membership. To do this, Edit Power BI workspace properties in Office 365 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-manage-app-workspace-in-power-bi-and-office-365

The correct answer in NO The only modifications available in the Security Group in Microsoft 365 admin center are: 1- Modification of the name and description of the group 2- Add or remove members and owners for the group

If the Contoso PowerBI group including User1 in Tenant Settings is authorized for Export Data, wouldn't it be enough to remove User1 from this group ?

Hey, I thought so too but this page enlightened me : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-new-workspaces "With the new workspaces, you can […]Assign workspace roles to user groups: security groups, distribution lists, Office 365 groups, and individuals." Hence in our situation modifying the properties of ContosoPowerBI is equal to assigning it a new Viewers Role for the Contoso Workspace which restrains its users to export data from this particular workspace. Subsquently the correct answer is A… If a user wants or has to export data, he can be granted permission thanks to Build permission. Contradictory opinions welcomed :)

I should be agree with you, but the only reason I don't, is because the new workspace is created and managed from Power BI only, not from Microsoft Office 365 (classic workspaces). The question is clear when states: "From the Microsoft Office 365 Admin Center, you modify the properties of Contoso PowerBI" . This is not possible due to Microsoft Office only work with classic workspaces not new ones. For this reason I think that the correct answer is B.

to prevent a user from exporting data, you would have to do it from the admin portal --> tenant setting --> export data.

But the possibility to remove members means that you can remove User1 - thus User1 cannot export the data any longer

The need is not to remove user access but only avoid export data

I bet on A We have to keep in mind that the 778 course will be modified in 2021(?) and does not reflect all of the new stuff the MS-Power BI Team is releasing. I assume the New Workspace Roles like Viewer I would consider for this specific problem was not in place when that exam question was created. It's the Microsoft 365 Admin Center/Active Groups/choose the specific group related to the workspace/click members/delete member(user1) from group to prevent user1 from exporting visualisations. This seems to be way better then preventing the whole organization (from the Tentant settings in the Admin Portal) to export data.

But wait. If I understood it right. If you create a classic workspace named "Contoso" in Power BI Service the matching security group created automatically in the Office365 Admin Center would be "Contoso". To prevent the user from exporting data - given that in the Power BI Admin Portal the Tenant settings allows all user the export of data - you need him to delete from the group "Contoso". Deleting the user from "Contoso PowerBI" group won't affect his ability to export data from the "Contoso" classic workspace or do i got it wrong?

Removing the user from "Contso group" will help if they mention that Contso group has export permission, and all user doesn't has export permission...but that seems only solution.

go with B. and Repost below: " Jrestrepo 7 months ago " According to this link: https://windowsreport.com/disable-export-data-power-bi/ there are two way to prevent exporting data. 1. From the report setting itself (if you wnat to prevent exporting data of just one report) 2. From the Admin Portal, select Tenant Setting --> export data So the answer to this question is "No". It is not done from MS 365 admin center

I think the answer should be (B) NO. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-power-bi-security Tool: Power BI Admin portal Task: Publish Power BI visuals In the described scenario, going to M365 is fine for changing security group (Contoso PowerBI) settings. Removing User1 is possible, but drastic. I think it is more accurate to go to Power BI service Admin center> Tenant settings> Export and Sharing settings and disable Share Content with external users.

i see your point but by going to ''Power BI service Admin center> Tenant settings> Export and Sharing settings and disable Share Content with external users.'', you actually disable the sharing settings for all users in the security group whereas in the question is stated that we need to prevent only one user from that group not to export data.

You can change level of access by editing the workspace properties. User 1 doesn't need to be removed, all you have to do is change their role i.e editing the workspace, hence A

As per the reference In Microsoft 365 you can: " Add or remove your workspace's group members", including making a member an owner. Edit the group name, image, description, and other settings. See the group email address. Delete the group. So answer is Yes

I agree with claudia ... "In Office 365 you can: Add or remove your workspace's group members" ... if you remove the person from the Contoso Power BI group, he can't perform the action. That's the way I'm reading it.
