The account and contact tables in Microsoft Dataverse are essential for identifying and managing customers, selling products and services, and providing superior service to the customers. A customer address table is used to store address and shipping information for a customer.
Scenario: The company has a custom app for managing and tracking passenger luggage. The app uses Microsoft Dataverse.
Agents need to view which pieces of luggage match to each passenger, and then need to add the total on the passenger record.

Luggage - Virtual Table "The company has a custom app for managing and tracking passenger luggage" Even thought it says "The app uses Microsoft Dataverse", my understanding is that this is in anouther soulution/environment and our solution is for "You are hired to design a new solution to manage passenger information, reservations, and maintenance." Anouther note that suggests our solution only needs read only access to the luggage table. "Agents need to view which pieces of luggage match to each passenger, and then need to add the total on the passenger record."

i thought the same. and for me it was not clear if 'new solution' means you replace the old and the old will then be decommissioned. Obviously, you don't want to see luggage from travels last year. so virtual table from one data verse to another data verse.

from a business point of view, i can immagine, that luggage traking (even though it sound simple huh?), can have very tricky edge cases and airport and aircraft industry is not an industry you can accept a broad tolerance of error. You need to cover them all and just adding an activity to track luggage on an airport sound to me dangerously simplistic.

But it also requires: "Minimize the use of third-party products and custom development." A custom activity has less development than Virtual Activity. Indeed, encourage the use of Dataverse.

Custom Table for both. Luggage doesn't make sense be a Custom Activity and the specific requirement "Agents need to view which pieces of luggage match to each passenger, and then need to add the total on the passenger record." unfeasible the virtual entity. I dont understand why you said it cannot. It is an actual requirement that you have to be able to model relationships in Dataverse. If you have one, then you can get the count.

Virtual: because I can create the virtual table, create a relationship with the passenger records and allow the agents to see my luggage and do a count on the total. Where in the limitations does it say I cannot do this? I do not understand the idea of a Custom Activity Table. Why would I need or want to create records in my system at all, when all I need to do is View the records and get a count and store the count in this system. The luggage itself has already been captured and stored in a table owned by another App. So why would I be creating activity records in the new system related to the luggage or even custom records at all?

I assume there is a misspelling in the question. Since the answer refers to "customer table" which makes perfectly sense for the passenger. With that misspelling in mind, "custom(er) table" does not match für luggage.

Answer is correct Custom Activity table. Custom Table The act of viewing luggage is the activity - it can include metatdata of the luggage.

However, if you look at the description of an activity table, it talks about activity tables including "data that helps determine what action the activity represents, for example, subject and description".. that might come in handy when talking about luggage, like what time did the luggage leave this airport and arrive at the next, what does it look like, do we still maintain control over it, etc.
