NO- Because Computer 2 is Windows 8.1, different systems. YES- Because both PCs are Windows 10 and User 1 has his profile path on a network share. YES- Because ESR applies here.

ESR is disabled for User1, so modifications can't follow the user. Answers can only be: No – ESR disabled for this user1 No – ESR disabled for this user1 Yes – ESR enabled for this user2

Also, the devices (or the OS) have nothing to do with ESR. "Enterprise State Roaming lets users securely synchronize user and application settings data to the cloud. **This means they'll have the same experience no matter which Windows device they sign into.**For example, if you replace one of their Microsoft Managed Desktop devices (e.g., Windows 8.1) with a new device (e.g., Windows 10), it will look and behave exactly the same as the last one. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/managed-desktop/get-started/enterprise-state-roaming

Need to fix my explanation. ESR is for Windows 10 or newer, but the results don't change: No – ESR disabled for this user1 No – ESR disabled for this user1; Also Windows 8.1 doesn't work with ESR. Yes – ESR enabled for this user2

I don't think ESR would sync desktop files, just settings. Only OneDrive can sync files I thought. Also roaming profile would not work on Azure. So I go with N, N, N.

Although entreprise roaming is only enabled for user 2, user 1 does have a roaming profile, because of the network path. I think the answer should be Yes, Yes, Yes. Does anyone agree?

Roaming profiles generally do not work between different versions of Windows and the AAD joined Computers (1 and 3) have no knowledge of the on-prem AD infrastructure since they are only aware of the AAD tenant (cloud) Just my thought

I agree. Everyone seems to be getting caught up on ESR when that only applies to User2 which is only relevant for box 3.

No, No, Yes I believe. Also, I was really wanting to know if roaming profiles would work between AD and AzureAD devices that use Azure AD Sync. I did find this: "Hybrid Azure AD join isn't supported on Windows down-level devices when using credential roaming or user profile roaming or mandatory profile." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/devices/hybrid-azuread-join-plan

ESR Should be enabled for the user and only for user 2 is enabled. Also we are talking about Azure AD feature so computers should be Azure AD joined for ESR to take affect. No – ESR disabled for this user1 No – ESR disabled for this user1 Yes – ESR enabled for this user2 and both computers are joined to Azure AD

Looking at this closer. The 2 Win 10 pcs are just azure ad joined not hybrid azure ad joined. So as per microsoft requirements Client computers must be joined to the active directory DS in order for Roaming profiles to function.

I personally feel the answers are No, Yes, Yes. 1 - No: User1's profile is a roaming profile. We can tell by looking at the User Profile Path. However, Windows 8 machines lack roaming profile compatibility with other versions of windows as indicated in this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/incompatibility-between-windows-8-roaming-user-profiles-and-roaming-profiles-in-other-versions-of-windows-994c2a2b-ad21-60da-e9ac-a0149513956a 2 - Yes: Both machines are W10 machines, so no issues with roaming profile compatibility. 3 - Yes. ESR is a W10 feature. Both PCs are W10. ESR is enabled on User2. Check. Check. Check.

I think that ESR not synchronize desktop icons, as you can see in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/devices/enterprise-state-roaming-faqs Theme, which includes features such as desktop theme and taskbar settings. Internet Explorer settings, including recently opened tabs and favorites. Microsoft Edge browser settings, such as favorites and reading list. Passwords, including Internet passwords, Wi-Fi profiles, and others. Language preferences, which include settings for keyboard layouts, system language, date and time, and more. Ease of access features, such as high-contrast theme, Narrator, and Magnifier. Other Windows settings, such as mouse settings. So, the correct answer for me is: Y: because Roaming Profile is set for user1. Y: because Roaming Profile is set for user1. N: because ESR not syncs desktop icons and User2 doesn't have roaming profile

sorry I correct my answer : N: because cannot use the same profile with accross differents windows versions Y: because Roaming Profile is set for user1. N: because ESR not syncs desktop icons and User2 doesn't have roaming profile

But if modify icons it means change options on Desktop icon settings, .. the answers proposed are OK, ERS syncs Desktop configurations. It's crazy :-( (N,N,Y )

I was going to agree- N,Y,N for the same reasons as you.. But what's hanging me up is how pc1 and pc3 are 'joined to AZAD'.. but does that mean in ADDITION to on-prem AD? If so, shouldnt it say 'hybrid'? Are they only joined to AZAD and PC2 is only joined to on-prem AD? I think we should only assume what is explicitly stated. And i see at least one other question, 3-40 which specifically says active-directory joined, hybrid joined, or azure ad joined.. I think that just bc in this question we have 'An AD domain that syncs to AD' does not necessarily mean that all users are joined to both.. Someone *please* correct me here if im wrong. If pc1 and pc2 are only joined to AZAD which seems to be the case... then the on-prem source of the profile path, along with ESR not enabled for User1.. would suggest that U1 cannot roam between PC1 and PC3.. I've been at this question for an hour and I think im going NO NO NO on this one.

I'm going with NO NO NO aswell; NO - No roaming compatibility between W10 and W8.1 NO - Computer 1 and 3 are Azure AD joined, roaming profiles will not apply. NO - ESR doesn't synchronize desktop icons.

N,N,N As you said, ESR not syncronize desktop icons, only a roaming profile does. In order to a roaming profile take effect, computers has to be On-Premises AD Join. On-Premises --> GPO, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) Azure AD --> Intune Both: Co-Management Co-Management <> Hybrid (On-Prem + AzureAD)

My take on this is: NO - Win10 > Win8.1 - Differing profile versions, not going to work. YES - Roaming profiles enabled on both to a central server, both Win10, Yes. ESR does not matter here. Just because these devices are AzureAD joined does not mean they can't see the central server. YES - All checks out, yes it is.
