You need to add the custom domain names to Office 365 to support the planned changes as quickly as possible. What should you create to verify the domain names successfully?
Adatum.com is already verified so you dont need to verify 2 subdomains of Adatum domain... you need to verify only Humongous... domain. So I would go with B.
For me the option would be two TXT. One for the adatum.com, which is the parent domain, the subdomain will be include in the validation. And the second TXT would be for the humungus domain.
The option is not there, other people are commenting dantum.com is already validated, so is either a different question they're talking about, or is a mistake of this question.
As the response to the answer is correct and assumes B the correct answer is still D.
The domain is verified due to the parent domain but you are still required to register 3 txt records.
What you need for all three domains are CNAME records to configure autodiscover. A TXT record is only necessary for domain verification (and can be deleted after that has happened) and so is only necessary for the one non-verified domain.
To be clear: autodiscover (and the CNAME records connected to it) are NOT necessary for what the questions asks to perform, "to add the custom domain names to Office 365". For that one TXT record, for the Humongous domain, is enough.
As the question suggests the answer is D. The domain is verified is correct but you are still required to add the TXT records for the subdomains with your provider.
Didn't get it at the first reading:
=> The network contains an Active Directory forest named contoso.com and a Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenant named contoso.onmicrosoft.com.
You recently configured the forest to sync to the Azure AD tenant.
=> In other words, contoso.com is already been set up!
-=Planned Changes=-
Contoso plans to provide email addresses for all the users in the following domains:
East.adatum.com
Contoso.adatum.com
Humongousinsurance.com
=> contoso.com is already been set up, no changes are needed for the subdomains!
=> Humongousinsurance.com needs a TXT-Record => (B)
Keep on reading joergsi ;-)
"You recently configured the forest to sync to the Azure AD tenant." So contoso.com is setup.
"You add and then verify adatum.com as an additional domain name." This means adatum.com is also setup. So the subdomains for adatum.com don't need a TXT record.
humongousinsurrance.com is new and needs a TXT record => answer B
The answer is B. From the domain FAQ question "Can I add custom subdomains or multiple domains to Microsoft 365?":
"When you add a subdomain, it is automatically verified based on the parent domain that is being verified."
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/setup/domains-faq?view=o365-worldwide
The supplied answer is wrong. Adatum.com has already been verified and so subdomains can be added without additional verification. The correct answer is B.
based on the text:
- Adatum.com is already verified
- Humongousinsurance.com is not verified
I just tested and you can add sub-domains from exisiting Domains in Azure AD -> Custom domain names without any additional effort an they apear verified (here) right away. You can also create users with the subdomain.
However, under Settings -> Domains the subdomain apears as incomplete and to need to add a TXT record for that to become healthy.
If you skip adding dns records you will have "no service selected". So subdomain is verified without txt record. Next you have to add MX, CNAME and TXT for SPF in order to assign services like mail - then your subdomain status will be "healtly" (but these records are for services to running correctly, not for verifying :)
so just 1 txt record for verifying new domain is needed
Would it not be 'B': One TXT record?
East.adatum.com - this is a subdomain of adatum.com that would already be verified
Contoso.adatum.com - this is a subdomain of adatum.com that would already be verified
Humongousinsurance.com - this is a new domain that would need verifying via a TXT record
Correct, D.
You can use a TXT record to verify your domain. Select this and select Next to see instructions for how to add this DNS record to your registrar's website. This can take up to 30 minutes to verify after you've added the record.
