Correct answer for me Network profile setted to "Public" so device can't discover and can't be discovered from other network devices, only via internet

I agree. Just tested on my PC. When I change to Public I'm unable to even discover other devices, and Windows Explorer gives me an error.

You are right: You should then double-checking your devices’ network settings. Open the Windows Settings app and go to Network: Status. Click Properties next to your network connection. Make sure the Network profile is set to Private. Delivery Optimization can’t communicate with other computers on your local network unless it’s configured as a Private network. Virtual Private Network (VPN) services and network proxies may interfere with Delivery Optimization. https://www.ctrl.blog/entry/windows-delivery-optimization.html

I think the provided answer is correct. Why would you be able to provide updates to local computers when Public Network is more restrictive and says you won't fileshare to other computers on the LAN?

Since Windows 10 1903 it's both Local network and Internet see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/do/waas-delivery-optimization-faq#how-does-delivery-optimization-handle-networks-where-a-public-ip-address-is-used-in-place-of-a-private-ip-address Also check in your firewall it is showing a firewall rule on domain, private and public profile

Delivery Optimization listens on port 7680 for requests from other peers by using TCP/IP. The service registers and opens this port on the device. The port must be set to accept inbound traffic through your firewall. If you don't allow inbound traffic over port 7680, you can't use the peer-to-peer functionality of Delivery Optimization. However, devices can still successfully download by using HTTP or HTTPS traffic over port 80 (such as for default Windows Update data). Delivery Optimization uses Teredo to create peer groups, which include devices across NATs (or any form of internal subnet that uses gateways or firewalls between subnets). To enable this scenario, you must allow inbound TCP/IP traffic over port 3544. Look for a "NAT traversal" setting in your firewall to set this up. Delivery Optimization also communicates with its cloud service by using HTTP/HTTPS over port 80.

I am fairly sure delivery optimization is able to discover other devices with delivery optimization enabled even when those devices are set to public as well. Also, it is allowed on windows firewall for both public and private. My initial thought was that public/private did not change how delivery optimization worked.

I understand being 'public' disguises you on your own network, so providing updates to PC's on the internet only makes sense. Does having this feature enabled negate the delivery optimaization setting set below? If so then given answer is correct. IF not, then I'd go with receive from internet computers only and provide updates to PC's on my network and internet.

I don't understand this can someone explain? Seems the network is on is configured for public use and DO is configured for public & local delivery. Shouldn't it be option 3 for both? What am I missing here?
