You are preparing to migrate data to a Dynamics 365 Finance environment from Dynamics AX 2009. You have to make sure that the data migration can be executed. Which of the following is TRUE with regards to this scenario?
A.
The current on-premises environment must first be upgraded to Dynamics 365 Finance online.
B.
The migration can run without upgrading the current on-premises environment.
C.
The current on-premises environment must first be upgraded to Dynamics AX 2012 R2.
D.
The current on-premises environment must first be upgraded to Dynamics AX 2009R3
B is correct as there is no upgrade required in AX 2009. Using the DMF the data has to be moved to data migration group in 2009 and import in D365, Data Management.
Upgrade is currently only supported from either Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or Dynamics AX 2012 R3. For each release, please update to the latest available cumulative update before upgrading to latest finance and operations application release.
B is correct. They ask for "data" migration, not code upgrade. You do not have to go through AX2012. In that case, it wouldn't be possible to migrate data from other legacy systems either.

Data migration can be done from starting any Ax2009 version.
Upgrade can be done from Ax2012R2.
C is correct.
To migrate data from Dynamics AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 Finance, the current on-premises environment must first be upgraded to Dynamics AX 2012 R2. This is because Dynamics AX 2012 R2 is the minimum version required for data migration to Dynamics 365 Finance. Once the upgrade to Dynamics AX 2012 R2 is complete, the data can then be migrated to Dynamics 365 Finance. It is not necessary to upgrade to Dynamics 365 Finance online before migrating the data.
Wrong! You can migrate data from AX2009 to D365 F&O.

This question is identical to Topic 4 Question 20 but in that case the only common answer is to upgrade to AX 2012 R2. I'm kinda guessing here but perhaps this route was the only available one at the point of the question being published. Now data migration can be performed directly from AX 2009.

Correct answer is C, because the question is asking like "make sure that the data migration can be executed.", If you upgrade to env. to Ax12, table is the same with D365
