Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) provides extensive control over Windows 10 updates and is natively available in the Windows Server operating system. In addition to the ability to defer updates, organizations can add an approval layer for updates and choose to deploy them to specific computers or groups of computers whenever ready. The other options do not provide Windows as a service.

Selected Answer: B
B. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Reasons: Centralized Management: WSUS allows you to manage the distribution of updates released through Microsoft Update to computers in your network. This centralized management is ideal for ensuring all devices receive updates consistently. Scheduling and Control: WSUS gives you control over which updates are deployed and when, ensuring that you can manage and schedule updates according to the company's needs. Cost Efficiency: WSUS is included with Windows Server, making it a cost-effective solution for managing updates without requiring additional licensing or subscription costs. The other options, while useful for different purposes, do not fit the specific requirement as closely: Windows Autopilot: Primarily focused on the deployment and configuration of new devices rather than ongoing update management. Microsoft Intune: A cloud-based management tool suitable for mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM), which may include additional costs. Azure AD Connect: Used for synchronizing on-premises directories with Azure AD, not for managing updates.

but the machines are upgraded to W10, cheaper is Intune - no info about configuration on prem/cloud so let’s assume they don’t have hardware for WSUS

I think that the answer is B. WSUS. Intune doesn't support Windows 7. Also when you use point-of-sale devices, these devices don't need cloud services like office365 and others.... These devices only need to be updated with important quality updates. WSUS supports Win7 and dose not require an additional license (except for Windows Server). That means it is a solution with low cost.

In microsoft terms WSUS is expensive as you have to manage a local installed server incl. Hardware, Backup, Electricity, employees etc. If the company allready have a M365 E5 license or some other MDM enabled license, the cost of intune is minimal. We do not know, do they have an on-prem server ? Do they have a MDM License ? It's a M365 Cert. I would go for Intune.

B. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is the servicing tool that should be used for scheduling upgrades and updates to be executed consistently for all devices. WSUS allows administrators to manage and distribute updates and upgrades to Windows-based computers on a corporate network. It can be used to deploy software updates, security patches, and service packs to Windows operating systems and Microsoft applications. WSUS can also be used to manage the deployment of feature updates, such as upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Using WSUS, the company can schedule the upgrade to Windows 10 for all the point-of-sale terminals and ensure that they receive updates and upgrades consistently for at least five years. This solution will keep costs to a minimum by automating the upgrade process and reducing the need for manual intervention.

The servicing tool that should be used for scheduling consistent upgrades and updates while keeping costs to a minimum for the POS terminals upgrade is Microsoft Intune, a cloud-based device management tool that allows for remote management, conditional access, device compliance policies, inventory and more.

WSUS is an on-premises deployment of Windows Update, akin to having a private cloud for Windows Updates. This is the answer.

Shouldn't the answer be autopilot?

No, the requirement is to service the devices, not build and configure. It would be Intune but they want to minimise costs, so it's WSUS
