AOT Reports and Extensions: In Dynamics 365, SSRS reports are defined in the AOT with elements like datasets, designs, and controllers. Unlike tables or forms, reports cannot be directly extended in the AOT to add fields or modify designs without creating a new report object. The term "extend" in the context of reports is often used loosely to describe a process where you:=> Duplicate the report in the AOT (create a copy in the FinanceExt model) => Modify the copy to include changes (e.g., adding the MinimumInvoiceAmount field to the design or updating the query for filtering).=> Extend navigation to redirect users to the new report by extending the report’s controller class or menu item.
AOT report can't be extended. When anyone mentions extending report it actually means to duplicate report → change what is required (design, ...) → extend navigation to the report (1. extend controller class to open "copy" report, 2. extend menu item to open your new controller)
