The file server contains the files shown in the following table.

You migrate D:\Folder1 and D:\Folder2 to the Documents library by using the SharePoint Migration Tool as shown in the following exhibit.

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer:
You can't have two files with the same name and extension in a SharePoint documents library. If a file on the source server has the same and extension as an existing file in the document library, this will cause a conflict. The options for dealing with a conflict are: Skip, Merge, or Overwrite.
The ג€Keep all versionsג€ setting in the exhibit is used to retain the file history for a migrated file. It does not create multiple versions of a file in a document library.

Box 1: No -
File1.docx exists in the document library so this will cause a conflict.

Box 2: No -
Migrating two File2.xlsx files will cause a conflict.

Box 3: Yes -
There is only one File3.pptx in the source server and none in the document library so there will be no conflict.

There seems to be different ways of approaching this question, the way i approach it is that they are migrating the folders, not the content of the folders. Meaning the structure of the library will be as follows Documents -Folder1 -Folder2 Not a lot of merging happening here, so the answer will be N (These are separate documents, not versions) Y (Technically yes there are two copies in the library) Y (lol)

would not assume "You migrate D:\Folder1 and D:\Folder2" is referring to the folders itself but rather to the content in those paths. Your interpretation defeats the purpose of the question.

Merging Behavior Possible values: “Never overwrite an existing file”, “Overwrite only if the source file is newer” and “Always overwrite an existing file” Default Value: “Overwrite only if the source file is newer” This setting defines, if the tool should overwrite existing files during merging local folder structure with existing structure in SharePoint. If you are going to use the tool for incremental migration, this setting option may be very helpful.

Answer is correct but explanation does not make sense in its current wording. Here is the exercise: --------------- First things first - no information about SPMT version, but let's take the newest general availability one: Step 1: Copy content from > File share Step 2: Select source Folder 1 > options: Migrate only folder contents(!) Step 3: Destination SPO site - Documents library Step 4: Name your migration + add another and configure as above for Folder 2 Step 5: Choose your settings (match the picture). Step 6: migrate This results in 0 errors. Items migrated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, back to the SPO library: File1.docx WAS replaced by the file migrated - no other versions exist. File2.xlsx WAS migrated as ONE file (based on dates) and there is only ONE file. Fil3.pptx was migrated and seems to be in this question just for fun.

Very tricky question. Typical Microsoft. --There will be two versions of File1.docx in the Documents library. Technically there will be two copies, one in the root and one in Folder1. However, if "versions" refers to SharePoint versioning, then there will only be one SharePoint version of each file. Assuming "versions" refers to SharePoint versioning, then the answer would be no. If "versions" means a copy of the file, then the answer would be yes. Since the second question mentions "copies" I'll assume this one is referring to SharePoint versioning and go with No. --There will be two copies of File2.xlsx in the Documents Library. No. There will be 3 copies: the existing one in the root, one in Folder1 and one in Folder2. --There will be a single copy of File3.pptx in the Documents Library. Clearly yes. It does not exist and we migrated it. So I'm going with NNY

I think it should be NYY - read carefully 1. NO - as you say, two COPIES but only one VERSION 2. Yes - two copies, one in Folder1 and one in Folder2; the existing file in the root is File2.DOCX not File2.XLSX 3. Yes

Are you serious guys? Why would be 2 versions as a result of migration? New versions are added when you modify a file, not when you copy a second file to the same directory!

There can never be 2 copys of the same exact file name/type in the same directory. Maybe you will be able to access different versions/revisions. But not as 2 different copies
