Your network contains an on-premises Active Directory domain. The domain contains the Hyper-V clusters shown in the following table.

You plan to implement Azure Site Recovery to protect six virtual machines running on Cluster1 and three virtual machines running on Cluster2. Virtual machines are running on all Cluster1 and Cluster2 nodes.
You need to identify the minimum number of Azure Site Recovery Providers that must be installed on premises.
How many Providers should you identify?

  • A. 1

  • C. 9
  • D. 16
Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B 🗳️
Install it on all seven nodes.
Note: Install the Azure Site Recovery Provider
Run the Provider setup file on each VMM server. If VMM is deployed in a cluster, install for the first time as follows:
✑ Install the Provider on an active node, and finish the installation to register the VMM server in the vault.
✑ Then, install the Provider on the other nodes. Cluster nodes should all run the same version of the Provider.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/hyper-v-azure-architecture You install the Recovery Services agent on each Hyper-V host or cluster node. B is the answer

Ha, I was wrong. Not sure if the scenario is still supported. But provider can be installed on standalone machines. Then 7 is correct. "During Site Recovery deployment, you gather Hyper-V hosts and clusters into Hyper-V sites. You install the Azure Site Recovery Provider and Recovery Services agent on each standalone Hyper-V host, or on each Hyper-V cluster node. Also we're asked to "protect six virtual machines running on Cluster1", but Cluster1 has only two virtual machines. Something is off with this question. Still, the fact to remember: Site Recovery provider to be installed on each VMM (not Hyper-V) host.

No. The provider must be installed on VMM servers, not on Hyper-V hosts. "Install the Provider on each VMM server. You don't need to explicitly install anything on Hyper-V hosts." "Run the Provider setup file on each VMM server [not Hyper-V host!] If VMM is deployed in a cluster, install for the first time as follows: Install the Provider on an active node, and finish the installation to register the VMM server in the vault. Then, install the Provider on the other nodes. Cluster nodes should all run the same version of the Provider." Question does not tell us anything about VMM setup. I'd go for 1 but it doesn't state how many VMM servers we have. Could also be a cluster and we'd need 2 then.

Pls ready carefully before comment https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/hyper-v-azure-tutorial Install the downloaded setup file (AzureSiteRecoveryProvider.exe) on each Hyper-V host that you want to add to the Hyper-V site. Setup installs the Azure Site Recovery Provider and Recovery Services agent on each Hyper-V host.
