You have a Hyper-V host named Server 1. The network adapters on Server1 have single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) enabled.
Server1 hosts a virtual machine named VM1 that runs Windows Server 2016.
You need to identify whether SR-IOV is used by VM1.
Solution: You sign in to VM1. You run the Get-NetAdapterSriov cmdlet.
Does this meet the goal?

Physical host: PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-NetAdapterSriov -Name "*" Name : Ethernet InterfaceDescription : HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter Enabled : True SriovSupport : Supported SwitchName : NumVFs : 62 On VM connected to an external virtual switch that has SR-IOV enabled: PS C:\> Get-NetAdapterSriov -Name "*" PS C:\> Which means the command is unable to get the requested data when run on a VM. As such, the correct answer is B.

The result most likely means SR-IOV is not enabled on the virtual switch. You must enable it when the switch is created. Is SR-IOV enabled on the virtual switch for this VM?

No, the command should be executed on Server1 the Hyper-V host instead of VM1.

The command has to be run against the netadapter, which exists on the VM. The command also has no switches to select which VM you might want to check and the output does not contain info on VM's.

Get-NetAdapterSriov is going to return the properties of a physical adapter that supports SR-IOV, not if a VM is using SR-IOV. Answer is not correct.

Changed my mind on this one. The command relates to the physical hardware and will show if it is SR-IOV capable. This will be transparent in the VM. So my answer is 'No'

The problem we all have is that we can't run the command and get a result as we are doing this in a home lab. However you can run Get-NetAdapaterRss in a VM and it returns a result. I am going to be guided by that command and say 'yes' the answer is correct.

PS C:\> Get-NetAdapterSriov -Name "*" | Where-Object -FilterScript { $_.Enabled -Eq $true } This command gets the SR-IOV properties for the network adapter with SR-IOV enabled. src= https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/netadapter/get-netadaptersriov?view=win10-ps

Here we want to check whether SR-IOV is used by VM1. It means that we need to check which network adapter of VM1 is capable or enabled for SR-IOV. So the command will be run on VM1.

I reviewed the link below: The Get-NetAdapterSriov cmd with the filter set to a true state will tell you which cards have sr-iov enabled. The question I have will it work on vm1 or do we have to run it onsrv1. Can anyone help!!! https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/netadapter/get-netadaptersriov?view=win10-ps Example 4: Get all SR-IOV properties for all network adapters with SR-IOV enabled PowerShell PS C:\> Get-NetAdapterSriov -Name "*" | Where-Object -FilterScript { $_.Enabled -Eq $true } This command gets the SR-IOV properties for the network adapter with SR-IOV enabled.

I think the correct answer is "B.-No". The Get-NetAdapterSriov cmdlet gets the Single-Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) properties of network adapters that support SR-IOV. It returns us if is supported, NumAllocatedVFS, NumVFS... but it doesn't return us if SR-Iov is used or not. So, for me the correct answer is no.

Sorry to speak against you, coleman, but I think this one is correct SO LONG AS it is supposed to be the VM and not the host! Get-NetAdapterSriov -Name "*" will give a line for 'enabled': 1 or 0.

All of the wording on the Microsoft docs suggests that we can only indicate the -name of NIC card, which appears to be physical. SO it looks like this is for host only, and this Q asks 'You log in to the VM and ..." which tells me YES you are CORRECT AGAIN COLEMAN
