Exam MB-330 topic 5 question 10 discussion

Actual exam question from Microsoft's MB-330
Question #: 10
Topic #: 5
[All MB-330 Questions]

You are the logistics manager at a distribution company.
Your primary carrier service provides rates for transportation between New York City and Colorado. These rates are a flat rate depending on the city or general area of pickup as follows:
✑ New York City = $500
✑ Colorado = $450
You need to set up Transportation Management to calculate the rate from New York City to Colorado.
What should you do?

  • A. Use a Point-to-Point engine based on weight and miles. Assign rates from New York City as the starting location and Colorado as the ending location and break the rates out based on the weight of the package.
  • B. Use a mileage-based rate engine to configure a rate master that calculates the rate based on the miles from New York City to Colorado.
  • C. Create hubs for both locations. Add a route plan from New York City to Colorado and assign the two charges as spot rates.
  • D. Set up zones in the Zone Master for New York City and Colorado. Assign rates to each zone in the Zone Master by starting and ending location.

Selected Answer: D
[D] The scenario emphasizes flat rates tied to specific locations (NYC and Colorado), and zones are ideal for mapping rates to geographic areas.

Options A and B introduce weight and mileage, which aren’t mentioned, while C’s hub-and-spot-rate approach is less flexible than zones for location-based flat rates.

Selected Answer: D
This option will allow you to create zones based on the city or general area of pickup, and assign flat rates for transportation between those zones. You can use the Transportation management zone master feature to define zones based on the metadata field values, such as country/region or zip code range, that qualify each zone. You can also specify the rates for each zone combination on the Zone rates tab. You can find more information about how to set up zones and zone rates in this article: [Transportation management zone master https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/transportation/transportation-management-zone-master.

I do not think that C is the correct because it proposes a spot rate. And the initial statement is a flat rate between NYC and Colorado.

The answer is definitely not C because if a hub was used, a further transport world be required and that would complicate the setup. In itself not a problem but not an answer to the question. With D it is possible to create a setup.

This question is duplicated. In the previous one the correct answer was A. I assume that was wrong and the answer should be C... someone thinks the same?

I correct myself, the answers are different in this one, so both questions are well solved
