Question #: 178
Topic #: 1
[All 70-742 Questions]

Your company has a main office and three branch offices. The network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com.
The main office contains three domain controllers. Each branch office contains one domain controller.
You discover the new settings in the Default Domain Policy are not applied in one of the branch offices, but all other Group Policy objects (GPOs) are applied.
You need to check the replication of the Default Domain Policy for the branch office.
What should you do from a domain controller in the main office?

  • A. From Group Policy Management, click Default Domain Policy under Contoso.com, and then open the Scope tab.
  • B. From a command prompt, run dcdiag.exe.
  • C. From a command prompt, run repadmin.exe.
  • D. From Windows PowerShell, run the Get-GPOReport cmdlet.
  • E. From Group Policy Management, click Default Domain Policy under Contoso.com, and then open the Details tab.

E is a very round-about way of doing this. You would have to compare the version on both of your DCs to see if the versions match up. The faster way would be to run repadmin /showrepl, so C is the more direct answer. Remember that C doesn't actually fix it, either.

It's not asking you to fix it. "You need to check the replication of the Default Domain Policy for the branch office. What should you do from a domain controller in the main office?" C is correct command to check replication

Why is nobody talking about dcdiag? From the official Microsoft Docs: Analyzes the state of domain controllers in a forest or enterprise and reports any problems to help in troubleshooting. As an end-user reporting program, dcdiag is a command-line tool that encapsulates detailed knowledge of how to identify abnormal behavior in the system. Dcdiag displays command output at the command prompt. Dcdiag consists of a framework for executing tests and a series of tests to verify different functional areas of the system. This framework selects which domain controllers are tested according to scope directives from the user, such as enterprise, site, or single server. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-R2-and-2012/cc731968(v=ws.11) BUT WAIT, HOLD ON! This is not the correct answer because this tool is now built in to Windows Server after 2012r2 so now it is superfluous.

Repadmin /Showrepl isn't going to show you the replication status of a GPO. It's just going to show that you replication between a neighboring DC is heathy or unhealthy

I Think correct options are two: From GUI: From Group Policy Management, click Default Domain Policy under the Group Policy Objects container and then open the Status tab. From Powershell: Repadmin /Showrepl

Think its A. One important detail is that all other GPO objects are applied so replication in general is functioning. Repadmin is a tool for all replication between domain controllers, not for GPOs and not for clients. It may not be A either but its definitely not repadmin

the question is to check the replication status, the question did not ask the problem need to be resolved, E and C both are the correct answer

Wrong, answer should be E. It only asks you to check this and not fix the issue.

No, in that case it should be: From Group Policy Management, click Default Domain Policy under the Group Policy Objects container, VCEConvert.com and then open the Status tab. So i think this answer is right. Thankyou
