I would say: Alias (CNAME) - for Autodiscover Inbound and outbound connector for mail flow to and from MHS MX should not be configured for the tenant because it should point to the MHS.

Not really... Correct0 is MX and Inbound and outbound connectors. Requirements: You need to ensure that all the email sent and received by the tenant is filtered through the message hygiene solution. So if you want EXTENAL mail servers send all e-mail to your 3rd party solution you specify your mail receiving solution in MX record. For the traffic INBOUND and OUTBOUND you create two connectors. Additionally: Autodiscover CNAME DNS record participate only in automatic configuration for Outlook client to fetch (i. e. to know your Exchange Server SMTP address). This record participate in sending e-mail by defining your Exchange server (where it send e-mails) because Outlook itself doesn't send E-mails directly anywhere else (works strictly CLIENT-SERVER, not SERVER architecture) beside the server (EXCHANGE).
