Selected Answer: D
You must choose the API so you can't switch this within the creation process. Got this description from the creation page: Create Azure Cosmos DB Account - Core (SQL) Global Distribution "Configure global distribution and regional settings for your account. You can also change these settings after the account is created."

I tried creating an Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL and didn't find the option to choose the API. However, I'm able to see the 'API' parameter being auto set to 'Azure Cosmos DB for SQL' in the 'Review+Create' page. Perhaps this was a configurable attribute in the past, but is no more.

The correct answer is: API. In Azure Cosmos DB, the API (e.g., Core (SQL), MongoDB, Cassandra, Gremlin, Table) can only be set at the time of account creation. Once the account is created, you cannot change the API type. Other settings like: Geo-redundancy: can be configured or changed after creation. Multi-region writes: can be enabled/disabled later. Production or non-production account type: this is more of a tagging or usage context, not a strict technical setting. So, API is the one that must be chosen during account creation and can't be changed afterward.

C. production or non-production account type The setting that can only be configured during the creation of an Azure Cosmos DB account is the account type, specifically choosing between a production or non-production account.

I tried creating an Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL and don't find this option (production or non-production account type) listed. As they keep updating these configs on a regular basis, perhaps this option existed in the past but NOT available anymore.

Setting: API Description: In this, select Core (SQL) for creating a document database and query by using SQL syntax. However, the API determines the type of account to create. Further, Azure Cosmos DB provides five APIs that include Core (SQL) and MongoDB for document data, Gremlin for graph data, Azure Table, and Cassandra.

Geo-Redundancy Disable Enable or disable global distribution on your account by pairing your region with a pair region. You can add more regions to your account later.

I tried creating an 'Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL' and in the 'Global Distribution' page of the creation process, I do see the settings for 'Geo-Redundancy' & 'Multi-Region Writes', but there is also a disclaimer note that "You can also change these settings after the account is created.". However, the question is about a setting that can be configured only during the account creation process and NOT thereafter.

The answer should be "A" as per the following explanation in point no 5 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cosmos-db/how-to-manage-database-account 5.In the Global Distribution tab, configure the following details. You can leave the default values for this quickstart: option available :Geo-Redundancy and Multi-region Writes

Yes one can set both API as well as production or non-reduction account type while creating account. I am confused with this question, can anyone explain?
