A company has Microsoft 365 E5 licenses. The company uses phone numbers that are provided by Microsoft. An auto attendant is not able to forward calls to external numbers. What should you do?
A.
Assign a new auto-attendant number.
B.
Purchase and assign an international calling plan to the associated resource account.
C.
Assign a phone system license to the associated resource account.
D.
Configure external sharing settings from Azure Active Directory.
When transferring calls to an external phone number, the resource account performing the transfer (that is, the one associated with the auto attendant or call queue) must have a Microsoft 365 Phone System Virtual User license and one of the following assigned:
- A Calling Plan license and a phone number assigned
An Operator Connect phone number assigned
An online voice routing policy (phone number assignment is optional when using Direct Routing)
Guys come on here. This is basic stuff. An AA requires a phone system AND a calling plan to make external calls. The answer is B because the question specifically states an issue with external calling. External calling requires a calling plan. It doesn't have to be international, but that is the only option.
If a resource account doesn't have a phone system license assigned then a number cannot be assigned to the account. The option will be greyed out.
The auto attendant already receiving calls and processing it (AA already assigned a virtual license), for AA to forward calls to external number it needs the following as per the link posted:
"When using a resource account for calling line ID purposes in call queues or when an auto attendant or call queue is transferring calls to an external phone number, the resource account must have a Phone System Virtual User license and one of the following assigned:
A Calling Plan license and a phone number assigned
An Operator Connect phone number assigned
An online voice routing policy (phone number assignment is optional when using Direct Routing)"
Answer C should be correct. The acc routing the number should have Phone System capability through the Virtual User license assigned. A calling plan ist not required for the acc as mentioned here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-add-on-licensing/virtual-user#change-an-existing-resource-account-to-use-a-microsoft-365-phone-system--virtual-user-license
I think in cases when customers use Microsoft numbers the Resource Account does need a Calling Plan license to be able to transfer calls to ext parties . Not necessarily international thought
A resource account with a Microsoft Calling Plan number, need a Microsoft Calling Plan license and as well a Phone System Virtual User license
