We recommend you use an image from the Azure Image Gallery. However, if you do need to use a customized image, make sure you DONT already have the Azure Virtual Desktop Agent installed on your VM. Using a customized image with the Azure Virtual Desktop Agent can cause problems with the image, such as blocking registration and preventing user session connections
Very helpful information. I had this issue from creating an custom image from a fully provisioned AVD hostpool VM. That doesn't work.
It took me days to discover all the required software for Azure Virtual Desktop will be installed when deploying the hostpool and choosing an standard Windows 10/11 image.
Totally agree. Save tons of testing and failure from scratch. Just use the SKU with O365 preinstalled for WVD and Multisession hosts Win10 or Win11 are the best option. Customization can be done by using Manual or packer to save time on massaging the JSON file.
D is correct answer.
A and C are not used in custom AVD image build.
B should never be used with custom image as it screws up the deployment.
