Answers are correct : 1. Process : you cannot reuse the parts, and the manufacturing chain should always follow the entire process. 2. Discrete : you cant reuse the parts, typical of many manufacturing process such as car making.

Lean production is about saving raw material and intermediate products. I think some automobile company aimed to produce the next car model of same "name-series" always with 90 % percent of materials of previous car model. I think JPN calls it "Kaizen". However Agile methods make production scalable up too. Constant returns to scale. Or decreasing or increasing returns to scale. In economics the standard assumption is decreasing returns to scale per one input of production ceteris paribus. -ES.
