Correct answer is: 1. Add an Azure subscription 2. Enable the default AIP policy. Confirmed as of 6th Jan 2023 from a practice test (Microsoft ESI)

Guess the subscription is needed because 'Your company has a Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus subscription.' so only a subscription for the Microsoft 365 Enterprise Apps. Therefore expansion of the subscription.

Incorrect answer given in my opinion. Should be; Add an Azure subscription to your MS365 tenant Install the Azure Information Protection client "To deploy Azure Information Protection, you must have the AIP client installed on any machines where you want to use AIP features." https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/requirements

No client is required. That kind of defeats the purpose of having a cloud based information protection service. So what, the information protection policy doesn't apply if the client isn't installed? Which means if that user uses their M365 credential on any unmanaged device the the policy would be void. Doesn't make sense

According to this a client was required https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/requirements - but I believe this is no longer relevant

Not your fundamental question but i think this is a clue: Your company has a 'Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus subscription'. so therefor only the apps so to say. If you do want more than you need an extra subscription. But an 'Azure' subscription? .. I would say an MS365 or so subscription. But you need an extra subscription I think.

These questions are probably out of date. The Azure Information Protection add-in for Office is in maintenance mode and MS recommend you use labels that are built into Office 365 apps and services. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/security-compliance-and-identity/azure-information-protection-and-the-information-protection/ba-p/3671070

Why not all 3 options, as both the client, and the policy are required, above the subscription? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/requirements

Accourding to microsoft "To deploy Azure Information Protection, you must have the AIP client installed on any machines where you want to use AIP features. For more information" In this case the right answer would be: 1. Add an Azure subscription to your MS365 tenant 2. Install the Azure Information Protection client https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/requirements

I don't think "Add an Azure subscription" is correct. The licensing is covered by M365. A subscription is only needed if paying for other Azure services

They don't have M365, they need to get a license first
