I would disagree with that; I would say that what they described is a perfect fit for product variants. I would use a product dimension group with just configuration, and then make the configuration into the extract. However, they expressly say "use a single version per item."

The product *could* be predefined variants, except production specifies "The company does not use Bill of Materials (BOM) versioning." - this would be required to manufacture product variants. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/production-control/bill-of-material-bom "To relate a specific BOM or formula to a product variant that can be produced, you must create a BOM version or formula version. " Therefore D, E

B. Create new finished goods with predefined variants and release to the legal entity. D. Create new raw materials and release to the legal entity. Reason "Each product in the new line uses the same base ingredients but includes a different extract (for example, lime, avocado, kiwi)" this indicates product variant. Product variant is not to be confused with product version from this statement "Use a single version per item.". Review the following for confirmation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/pim/product-dimensions#version-dim

Best for You Organics plans to introduce a new product line of face creams. Each product in the new line uses the same base ingredients but includes a different extract (for example, lime, avocado, kiwi) => finished good should have variants so B and D as for the Use a single version per item -> there's a product dimension called version, there is nothing to do with this sentence.
