Exam PL-600 topic 3 question 11 discussion

Actual exam question from Microsoft's PL-600
Question #: 11
Topic #: 3
[All PL-600 Questions]

A company uses a third-party cloud-based app to make real-time business decisions. The app has a RESTful API.
You must design a Microsoft Power Platform solution that interacts with the third-party app. Changes made in the Microsoft Power Platform solution must be reflected in the cloud app.
You need to recommend technologies to integrate the Microsoft Power Platform solution with the cloud app.
Which two technologies should you recommend? Each correct answer presents part of the solution.
NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

  • A. Scheduled Power Automate cloud flow with a custom connector to the cloud app
  • B. Power Virtual Agents
  • C. Custom plug-on registered with Microsoft Dataverse
  • D. Model-driven app

A,C makes more sense to me. C is the obvious choice. Out of A and D, A is better because it is an integration piece. Yes, scheduled is not real-time but I don't think it needs to be to fulfill the requirement. The custom plugin allows real-time decision making; the Power Automate flow allows " Changes made in the Microsoft Power Platform solution must be reflected in the cloud app"

I agree. The wordings "to make real-time business decisions" could be misleading. You can still make real-time business decisions if your scheduled flow is keeping the data synchronized assuming that the execution frequency of the schedule flow is high and is close-to real-time.

each answer is PART of the solution... plus REAL TIME does not work for A. Must be CD

A scheduled flow does not meet real-time requirements. And since the question indicates that each correct answer is a part of the solution, we need D) model-driven app with C) (sync) plugin to interact with the cloud app API.

Where in the question does it state real-time requirements?

"A company uses a third-party cloud-based application to make business decisions in real time." When I read that, it's because I need updated data

"to integrate" Model driven apps are a user interface, and not a method of integration.

Each option is meant to be part of the answer, that's why MDA fits in with the Plugin, and why the Scheduled Flow (which won't be real-time) wouldn't work - that would be a separate, alternative solution to the Plugins, not part of the same solution.

The best way to 'integrate' is through the Custom Connector; however, A is not real-time... I have doubts, and I'm thinking of CD.

CD, The whole question is daft. 1. I wouldn't use a scheduled flow, I would use a trigger, so if this is one of the answers its a horrible solution and suggestion. Shame on Microsoft if it is 2. Since it specifically says each answer is "part" of the solution and Flows and Plugins (yes I know they typed plug-on) would be duplicate work if you did both, I would select the model driven app. Enter data in the UI, the plugin updates the API and people get their ability to do real-time decision making... Anything else to me is conjecture.

A is obvious, custom connector is the way to go for REST APIs, B is off topic, D is DataVerse only, C can operate REST API. See here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/developer/data-platform/create-custom-api-prt

There are no Plug-on on Power Platform, Model Driven App doesn't make any meaning in the context of real time decision making. I would go with A and B. As we can get real time information using PAV and PA, and also using Scheduled flow.

I would go CD, C means create custom API for calling 3rd app. Since each item is partial of solution. using power app with calling API to make real time decision. A is full solution and not real time

CD -real time business decision. You cannot achieve real-time on a scheduled flow, Use model driven app virtual entity and pass the changes to the third party app via api endpoints.

A and C essentially do the same. One realtime, one scheduled. Question doesn't indicate either. Assuming they don't want to hear both but we need to select 2 this sounds like CD. B is wrong for obvious reasons. Not confident in either answer.
