You have five Azure virtual machines. You need to collect performance data and Windows Event logs from the virtual machines. The data collected must be sent to an Azure Storage account. What should you install on the virtual machines?
If were on-premise i would say Azure Monitor, but for azure vm the answer looks ok.

Use Azure Diagnostics extension if you need to:
Send data to Azure Storage for archiving or to analyze it with tools such as Azure Storage Explorer.
Answer is E
"Diagnostics extension: Sends data to Azure Monitor Metrics (Windows only), Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Storage. This is not consolidated yet." So, Diagnostics extension is a legacy extension that will be replaced completely by Azure Monitor agent in the near future but right now is the right answer. Moreover, the emphases is on the "Send data to Azure Storage" and the Diagnostics extension does exactly that.
Azure Diagnostics extension is an agent in Azure Monitor that collects monitoring data from the guest operating system of Azure compute resources including virtual machines.
First you need to install the Azure Monitor agent.
We are not monitoring here. monitoring does more then jsut collect performance. We are collecting performance information on azure vms.
I see 2 choices and the diagnostic extension fits best. If the question changes -it could include Some on prem element, then it would be azure monitor instead
This means diagnostic extension to a storage account will work fine-

Complexities on a test will ask around this vs log analytics. This is good for on prem or outside azure
Azure monitor or arc agent might be mostly used in on prem or hybrid situations:
