metadata cleanup is performed automatically when you delete the DC object. The server object and the computer object are also deleted automatically. here is the link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/manage/ad-forest-recovery-cleaning-metadata

You can also use the Active Directory Sites and Services console (Dssite.msc) to delete a domain controller’s computer account, which also completes metadata cleanup automatically. However, Active Directory Sites and Services removes the metadata automatically only when you first delete the NTDS Settings object below the computer account in Dssite.msc. It is not mentioned that the deletion of the NTDS was done prior deleting the server object so the answer should be NO https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-R2-and-2008/cc816907(v=ws.10)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

in active directory site and services ,if you right click on the DC object under the site then click delete, you will get message ",,, are you sure you want to delete object and all of the objects it contains " meaning it will delete both Ntds and server object in one time

Answer is no. You need to delete the NTDS settings before removing the server node, otherwise metadata is not cleaned properly.

When you use Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) or the Active Directory Users and Computers console (Dsa.msc) that is included with Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to delete a domain controller computer account from the Domain Controllers organizational unit (OU), the cleanup of server metadata is performed automatically. Previously, you had to perform a separate metadata cleanup procedure. You can also use the Active Directory Sites and Services console (Dssite.msc) to delete a domain controller’s computer account, which also completes metadata cleanup automatically. However, Active Directory Sites and Services removes the metadata automatically only when you first delete the NTDS Settings object below the computer account in Dssite.msc.

This one is tricky but according to the question states "You need to prevent the other domain controllers from attempting to replicate to lon-dc1." and it did not say which first step you have to do, so the answer is correct: YES

I am leaning to "No". Because you have to delete the NTDS Settings object firstly, no mentioned of that in the question. The answer is correct. YES. I agree the question is vague. However, I know for a fact that this does work. How? I've done it in a production environment more than once.

As this says that you remove it, not 'attempt to' remove it I would say yes. To remove it you also need to remove the NTDS settings which will perform the metadata cleanup.

I think highfiveme is right, but the "NTDS Settings" are nested in the Domain controller object when using the ADSS tool. So deleting the failed domain controller will also delete the "NTDS Settings" object within it. Answer is Yes, this will work.

Are you a 100% sure on this? Seems to recall when we sometimes have demoted a DC - correctly, the NTDS Settings still exists. Im not so sure about this.

Official Microsoft docs says: You can also use the Active Directory Sites and Services console (Dssite.msc) to delete a domain controller's computer account, which also completes metadata cleanup automatically. However, Active Directory Sites and Services removes the metadata automatically only when you first delete the NTDS Settings object below the computer account in Dssite.msc. So in this scenario it won't remove the metadata since nothing about the NTDS settings. So answer B: no https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/ad-ds-metadata-cleanup

dsa.msc > Domain Controllers > (select DC) > Delete > Yes > [X] Delete this Domain Controller anyway (permanently offline) > Delete > Yes The question has to do with stopping replication attempts, not seizing roles

Yes is correct. You can remove a failed Global Catalog DC from AD SS, AD UC or you can do a metadata cleanup with ntdsutil.exe. https://www.dtonias.com/forced-removal-domain-controller/

depend on how long the replication process taske, the lowest setting is 15 minutes and you can set it as much as 180 minutes or even mores, if you remove the node from the Active Directory Sites and Service the the ntds setting and the metadata will also be removed therefore the answer is correct. all the application process is happen automatically without the need of the admin intervention unless you need to setup the bridgehead servers, which is also not recommended. unless you have a real reason for it {this is the chapter AD Replication} 70-742
