The amount of time SQL Insight data will be stored in Blob Storage should be 90 days as selected in retention policy slide bar and maximum days should be indefinite

You get the option of specifying the retention days only storage account is selected. Also the following message can be seen at the bottom Retention only applies to storage account. Retention policy ranges from 1 to 365 days. If you do not want to apply any retention policy and retain data forever, set retention (days) to 0.

Answer for 1 will be infinite because its ticked Archive to a Storage account. 90 days of retention is for the logs and not for the data. So does not apply for the 1st question which is asking how long will the data be stored. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The answer is 90/730. The box where you add how many days you can keep the SQLInsights appears just when you select Archive to storage account.

The correct answer is: 90 and 730: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/database/metrics-diagnostic-telemetry-logging-streaming-export-configure?tabs=azure-portal#data-retention-policy-and-pricing "If you select Event Hubs or a Storage account, you can specify a retention policy. This policy deletes data that is older than a selected time period. If you specify Log Analytics, the retention policy depends on the selected pricing tier."

I think the retention option applies to Log Analytics rather than the storage account. If that is the case the answer for #1 wouldn't be 90 as what it shown but indefinite due to the data being archived. #2 is definitely 730 days max.

This has changed. Now the possible values are 1-365, or 0 for indefinite. It comes from a tooltip message directly on the Portal.

the first question is about 'data in blod', well, archive to blob is checked, with the sub option of retention set to 90, so the answer is 90, and yet setting that to 0 would mean indefinite storage on blob. the next question is about the max retention in log analytics (not related to archive to storage blob) and that depents on the setting of the log analytics workspace retention (another screen) where the max (depending on the cost model) is 730. so A: 90, B: 730

90 and 730 are correct answers. Image clearly shows 90 days set for SQL Insights and not 0 to be indefinite. On given link it can be read that retention options only available for Storage account not for Log Analytical. For log analytical retention is set in work space not on diagnostic settings. Here the values are for BLOB storage which is 90. I read other article on similar questions and 90 is correct. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/platform/diagnostic-settings

Retention only applies to storage account. Retention policy ranges from 1 to 365 days. If you do not want to apply any retention policy and retain data forever, set retention (days) to 0. So how is it 730 and indefinite?
