Question ask about a primary characteristic.
"D. a large amount of duplicate data"
D can happen but it's not a characteristic.
On the other hand, all the relational database I know uses a SQL-like query language.
B has my vote.
B. Data is queried and manipulated by using a variant of the SQL language.
A primary characteristic of a relational database is that data is queried and manipulated using a variant of the SQL (Structured Query Language) language. SQL provides a standardized way to interact with and manage data in a relational database, allowing users to perform operations such as querying, inserting, updating, and deleting records.
Are you saying that "Large amount of duplicate data" is the primary characteristic of a relational database? That is not correct. The correct answer is that we use a variant of SQL language to manipulate and query the data. All relational databases use that.
D is the correct option guys. Assumes that is a relational database where fields could be shared among different tables if normalization has not been applied, any of its variants such as 1,2 or even 3rd normalization. In general terms a relational database has a lot of duplicate data so in the exam is the best option for me.
Have you ever heard of Data Normalization? Or, Data Deduplication?
Relational Databases work at prioritizing/ensuring that duplicate data is removed from table storage.
B is slightly better than the rest 3 options but not perfect to the point: "data is queried and manipulated by using a variant of the SQL language".
Relational databases need ACID characteristics. ACID refers to four essential properties: Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability. These features are the key difference between a relational database and a non-relational database.
I think it should be B, because the other three options seems incorrect to me.
Also, there are a variant of SQL languages indeed. T-SQL for example. Plus that, all different databases have their own slightly different SQL dialects.
