HOTSPOT - A company plans to implement Power BI. Instructions: For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement is true. Otherwise, select No. NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point. Hot Area:
Suggested Answer:
Box 1: No - There's a new way to create reports quickly in the Power BI service. Instead of downloading the Power BI Desktop app and importing the data, you can paste data straight into Power BI on the web, and Power BI automatically generates visuals for you.
Box 2: No - Power BI Service only contains Power View, the report authoring and consumption experience, along with dashboards.
Box 3: Yes - The Power Pivot / data modeling component is available in Power BI Desktop only. This includes adding measures, adding calculated columns, defining relationships - all DAX functionality. No No Yes
Explanation:
Power BI Report Builder is not the only tool used to create reports to be published to the Power BI service. Power BI Desktop is also a powerful tool that can be used to create reports and publish them to the Power BI service.
Power BI service does not include calculated columns. However, you can create calculated columns and measures in Power BI Desktop and then publish them to the Power BI service.
Power BI Desktop can include calculated columns. You can use the "New Column" feature to create a new column, and then use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create a calculated column.
Power BI Report Builder is NOT Power BI Desktop. It is desktop software, but it is the paginated report builder. The keyphrase is 'to be published' so Power BI Desktop is the other tool.
Both power bi service and desktop can create calculated columns. I just tested both. In the service make sure you click 'open data model' first.
No, No, Yes
I thought in second option, it was possible "calculated columns" in Power BI Service but it is only enabled in Desktop, a brief check in website.
I could imagine that the calculated columns are now just normal filled columns. Conversely, you would not know if they were originally calculated columns or not if you only use Power BI Services, since Power BI Services itself cannot create calculated columns.
