Import data formats supported are: For Entities - xml, CSV, colon-separated, semicolon-separated, tab-separated and vertical-bar-separated. Have not heard anything about pipe-separated (or delimited) format at all. For packages - zip

"Import is the process of pulling data into a system using data entities. The import process is done through the Import tile in the Data Management workspace. ... The file formats vary depending on the type of import. For an entity, it can be an Excel file that is comma-separated, tab-separated, or text. For a data package, it is a .zip file. In both cases, the files are exported using the above mentioned export process." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/data-entities/data-entities-data-packages#import-a-data-package

I believe that the given answer is correct. .zip is for Packages (composite entities) Pipe delimited format is a the same .csv, only a special case of it - with a vertical bar symbol. So others are certain extensions or type of file (as Excel) and Pipe delimited is just out of this logic
