The question is to minimize latency for instance6. Therefore the answers should be manual asynchronous commit followed by manual failover. Automatic failover cannot be done on ASYNC commit mode.

The question clearly states that instance6 is in another datacenter and that latency in AG1 should be minimized. Using SYNCHRONOUS_COMMIT will imply that the primary replica has to wait (and waiting means latency) until it recieves acknowledgement that instance 6 has hardened it’s log. So in my opinion the AVAILABILITY_MODE has to be ASYNCHRONOUS_COMMIT. And then the only option for FAILOVER_MODE is MANUAL.

wouldn't asynchronous commit mode be a better option as the scenario doesn't say you need to have automatic failover and Microsoft state "Asynchronous-commit mode is a disaster-recovery solution that works well when the availability replicas are distributed over considerable distances." this would also reduce latency as "the primary replica does not wait for any of the secondary replicas to harden the log. Rather, immediately after writing the log record to the local log file, the primary replica sends the transaction confirmation to the client."

Box 4 seems to be missing in both answer and solution area Think it should be WITH FAILOVER_MODE = << AUTOMATIC >> Where Automatic is the answer to be selected
