Your question has logic but if you see the options "add the field to the form" doesn´t appear. So the correct answer is publish customizations.

The only possible answer is publish customizations. This because you can add it to the form but without publish customizations the user don't see it. Also the user don't need to modify it. They only need to see it so the form is to much. You can also make the field only visible on the view. But still you need to publish the publish customization. So or the answer is incorrect or the question.
