You have an Azure subscription.
You have an on-premises file server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2019.
You manage Server1 by using Windows Admin Center.
You need to ensure that if Server1 fails, you can recover the data from Azure.
Solution: From the Azure portal, you create a Recovery Services vault. On VM1, you install the Azure Backup agent and you schedule a backup.
Does this meet the goal?

  • A. Yes
  • B. No

Suggested Answer: B 🗳️
Instead use Azure Storage Sync service and configure Azure File.
Use Azure File Sync to centralize your organization's file shares in Azure Files, while keeping the flexibility, performance, and compatibility of an on-premises file server. Azure File Sync transforms Windows Server into a quick cache of your Azure file share.

Read the questions well Answer is B The answer would be A if we are installing the backup agent on server 1 and not VM1. But as the question stands the answer is B.

Agreed with gboyega If backup agent is installed onto Server1 than answer is Yes If the question does in fact state VM1 than the answer is No https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-support-matrix-mars-agent

Event with the typo error VM1-Server1, it would require to the vault credentials to work. It's clearly the B

I think this is a typo, no where else in the question mentions VM1 so this is either a terribly worded question (not valid) or Server1 and VM1 are the same thing, in which case Yes is a valid answer as that would meet the goal.

The answer is Yes You can´t recover entire server (if it is a physical server) but you can recover the data from Azure, that is the requirement.

We would use Azure File Sync for backup. Recovery Service Vault back's up Azure resources only. We would need to use MARS agent for on prem backup if we still go ahead using Recovery services.

Looking at details Os version the answer is B: To enable the sync capability on Windows Server, you must install the Azure File Sync downloadable agent. The Azure File Sync agent provides two main components: FileSyncSvc.exe, the background Windows service that is responsible for monitoring changes on the server endpoints and initiating sync sessions, and StorageSync.sys, a file system filter that enables cloud tiering and fast disaster recovery.

It should be A: Yes. You can use Azure Backup to protect your Windows Server from corruptions, attacks, and disasters... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/tutorial-backup-windows-server-to-azure

Could be a word play from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-windows-with-mars-agent MARS Agent vs Azure backup Agent. I vote B-No

" file server named Server1"...that means they want to extend their on-prem file server to Azure. Best way to do it is using Azure File Sync service.

The Keyword are: Windows Admin Center. You dont need to download the Backup Agent, you can configure this in the Windows Admin Center. All three Question are NO!

Shouldn't the answer be "yes"? The question says that if Server1 fails, "you can recover the data from Azure." The keyword there is "data" and not the whole server. If we're backing up VM1 then that doesn't that mean we're capturing the data as well?

A (yes) should be good also, because the question says that you need to recover data from Azure.

The question asks about Server1 (on prem) and not the VM1 in azure, so the ASR answer is incorrect. Hence B.

agreed , answer is B because as Benkyoujin says it states VM1 is server with the backup agent installed and does not mention Server1. It would only be A if the question has a typo and it it should be written Server1 where it states VM1, but it doesnt , so in this form it is B
