Create a Purview account. Modify the Access control (IAM) settings for DB1. From the Purview Studio, create a scan rule set.

I think the answer should be: 1. Create a Purview account 2. Create a system-assigned managed identity (enable it for Purview account). 3. Modify the Access control (IAM) settings of DB1 (grant permissions to system-assigned managed identity, so Purview account can access DB1)

after some further reading, i think the provided answer seems right. the question is not how to perform scan. it is about what need to be done to register for the scanning. If you carefully read the content in this link, you will see the answer make more sense. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/purview/register-scan-azure-sql-database?tabs=sql-authentication

Seem you are right and I was wrong. Only I would change the sequence of the steps 2 and 3. First to create a managed identity => then to modify IAM of the database

system managed identity CANNOT be created by the user, so it's not valid.

How do you know that? The question doesn't mention if the person here is a generic "user" or an Azure admin of some kind.

I think the answer is wrong. It should be: 1. Create a Purview account 2. Create a scan rule set 3. Create a scan trigger https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/purview/concept-best-practices-scanning#scanning
