[All 1z0-062 Questions]

All of your live databases run in ARCHIVELOG mode.
On the SALES database there is no LEVEL 0 backup.
Examine these commands issued against the SALES database target:
RMAN> BACKUP AS BACKUPSET DATABASE;
..
backup set complete, elapsed time: 00:00:03
RMAN> BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 DATABASE;
What is true about the execution of these commands?

  • A. A Level 0 backup of the database is created instead of the Level 1.
  • B. A backup is created which only contains blocks that have changed since BACKUP AS BACKUPSET command.
  • C. It throws an error because incremental level 1 backups require image copy backups as the Level 0 backup.

Correct Answer: A A level 1 incremental backup contains only blocks changed after a previous incre mental backup. If no level 0 backup exists in either the current or parent database incarnation when you run a level 1 backup, then RMAN makes a level 0 backup automatically.

For B: Wrong "BACKUP AS BACKUPSET DATABASE;" is a full backup. Refer to https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/12.2/bradv/rman-backup-concepts.html#GUID-C93F3588-BBA9-4AE2-9E47-74C7A9468023 "A full backup has no effect on subsequent incremental backups. ... A full backup cannot be part of an incremental backup strategy; that is, it cannot be the parent for a subsequent incremental backup." So it's not related to the following incremental backup command.

If compatibility is >=10.0.0, RMAN copies all blocks that have been changed since the file was created. Otherwise, RMAN generates a level 0 backup."

For A: The question doesn't mention whether a level 0 backup exists before "BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 DATABASE;" is executed, so the behavior can be level 0 or 1 backup. A is not fully correct, but considering other options are obviously wrong, A is better than worst.
