Pg 244 PMBOK 6th
Bottom-up estimating is a method of estimating a component of work. The cost
of individual work packages or activities is estimated to the greatest level of specified detail. The detailed cost
is then summarized or “rolled up” to higher levels for subsequent reporting and tracking purposes.
Bottom-up estimating involves estimating the individual components or work packages of a project separately and then aggregating these estimates to calculate the total project estimate. It offers a more detailed and accurate estimation by breaking down the project into smaller, more manageable parts, and then summing up these estimates to derive the total.
