If the solution is not added to this sprint what is the team member doing the rest of the sprint ????it clearly says ROADBLOCK ,that means it required immediate attention to be added to the backlog.so the team should have a meeting find a solution then discuss it with a product owner to add it to the spring backlog.but might be something missing from this question "due to a technical issue" but with what ? a software the team is using or where is the technical issue ? also the question stating "CRITICAL impediment " so the best possible answer for this scenario is "B"

Selected Answer: C
In an agile environment, when a critical roadblock is identified—especially a technical one beyond the team’s control (like a tool bug or system integration failure)—the project manager or Scrum Master should act as a servant leader to remove the impediment quickly. If it's a vendor-related technical issue, the most effective and immediate action is to: Escalate the issue to the vendor who owns or supports the tool. Ensure the team is not blocked for long. Allow the developers to focus on other prioritized backlog items in the meantime. This aligns with the Scrum Master’s responsibility to remove blockers and maintain the team's velocity and focus.

I Assume its B as if the solution is not added to this sprint, work will be delayed and the question says its a roadblock, if the solution couldve been solved by the team member it wouldnt stop him from working he rest of the sprint, implementing the solution in the next sprint will only delay work.

why not C ? If the roadblock is due to a technical issue that falls outside the team's expertise or control, escalating it to the software vendor is the most effective way to address the problem quickly. The vendor likely has the necessary knowledge and resources to resolve the issue, enabling the team to continue their work with minimal disruption.

This option emphasizes empowering the team to find a solution collaboratively. By coaching the team to address the technical issue themselves, it promotes ownership, teamwork, and self-organization within the Agile framework.

Selected Answer: B
Without doing B, there will still be impediments that will negativity impact the project. The brainstorming session will help the PM to identify which area (s) requires coaching. It's a step in risk identification process that helps in determining response strategies for the impediment.

Although the Sprint Goal is fixed during the Sprint, the Sprint Backlog is not. Need to add the corrective actions into the current sprint backlog in order to be able to accomplish the sprint goal

At first I was going to go for D as you don't typically add/remove items from the sprint backlog, but after thinking it through, better answer is B. There are some exceptions to change items in the sprint backlog like if a critical defect is discovered during the Sprint that requieres immediate attention, the team may decide to include them in the Sprint Backlog to fix them, not waiting until the next iteration. Also, the sprint Goal should be reviewed.

If the roadblock prevents the team from meeting the sprint goal, the issue needs to be addressed first. Myth: The Sprint Backlog can't change during the Sprint https://www.scrum.org/resources/blog/myth-2-sprint-backlog-cant-change-during-sprint#:~:text=Myth%3A%20The%20Sprint%20Backlog%20can't%20change%20during%20the%20Sprint&text=The%20Development%20Team%20commits%20itself,to%20fulfil%20their%20given%20commitment.

Scrum Guide: "The Sprint Goal is created during the Sprint Planning event and then added to the Sprint Backlog. As the Developers work during the Sprint, they keep the Sprint Goal in mind. If the work turns out to be different than they expected, they collaborate with the Product Owner to negotiate the scope of the Sprint Backlog within the Sprint without affecting the Sprint Goal."

My answer "C"- It is the PM's role to remove impediments being a servant leader so that the team can continue with the sprint goal. Any thoughts?

Selected Answer: A
As the project manager, it is the responsibility to help remove any impediments that are blocking the team from progressing. In this case, the roadblock is due to a technical issue, so the project manager should help solve the issue for the team member so that they can continue with their work. This will ensure that the team remains productive and the sprint progress is not hindered. Option B suggests a brainstorming session to address the issue, which might take time and could delay the progress of the sprint. Option C involves escalating the issue to a third-party software vendor, which may not be feasible, especially if the vendor is not immediately available to resolve the issue. Option D involves coaching the team to come up with their own solution, which may not be appropriate for a critical impediment that is blocking the team's progress.
