A project manager for an agile project is concerned that the team has been losing momentum over the last iterations. Which two tools should the project manager use to analyze team performance? (Choose two.)
A. Burndown chart: The burndown chart tracks the progress of work completed against the planned work over time. It provides a visual representation of the team's progress and helps identify any deviations from the planned trajectory. By analyzing the burndown chart, the project manager can assess whether the team is falling behind, maintaining a steady pace, or accelerating, allowing them to take corrective actions if necessary.
C. Cumulative flow diagram of completed features: The cumulative flow diagram tracks the flow of work items through different stages of the project. It provides a visual representation of the work in progress and can highlight bottlenecks or areas where work is piling up. By analyzing the cumulative flow diagram, the project manager can identify any blockages or inefficiencies that may be hindering the team's momentum and take steps to address them.
A. Burndown chart
C. Cumulative flow diagram of completed features
The project manager can use the burndown chart and cumulative flow diagram of completed features to analyze team performance in an agile project.
The burndown chart is a graphical representation of work remaining over time. It helps project managers to understand how much work has been completed and how much is remaining, and whether the team is on track to complete the project on time. It can also help identify if the team is losing momentum by showing if the team is completing less work over time.
The cumulative flow diagram of completed features helps project managers to understand the flow of work through the system. It can help identify bottlenecks and delays, and highlight areas where the team is not working efficiently. It can also help identify if the team is losing momentum by showing if the flow of completed features is slowing down over time.
Burndown Chart:
A burndown chart shows the amount of work remaining in a sprint or project over time. It provides a visual representation of progress and can help identify if the team is on track or falling behind. If the team is losing momentum, the burndown chart can reveal trends such as work not being completed as expected within the iterations, allowing the project manager to identify potential issues and bottlenecks.
Cumulative Flow Diagram of Completed Features:
A cumulative flow diagram (CFD) displays the status of work items over time, showing the flow of features through different stages (e.g., to-do, in-progress, completed). It helps visualize bottlenecks, workflow issues, and trends in the team's performance. If the team is slowing down, the CFD can indicate where work is piling up, such as in the "in-progress" column, suggesting a need to adjust processes or remove obstacles.
Fell for the trap myself. The explanation for C is wrong so it would not apply. Cumulative Flow diagram shows the progress of all three metrics (total, in progress and completed). Not just the completed features.
so with your logic cumulative flow should cover what they are asking in Question. A& C is the right answer.
BTW there is no such thing called "Product backlog Burnup Chart". wrong terminology. They are two separate things. PRODUCT BACKLOG; and BURNUP CHART.
As team was performing fine in earlier iteration, the best way is to review backlog burn up. There may be chances that team is performing all the user stories, but in recent iteration UserStories might have increased. The best way is to refer backlog burn up chart
